We were made to feel most welcome in this art deco restored hotel which operates as a B&B; it no longer operates as a pub.
In the evening, we enjoyed the use of the small formal lounge/dining room upstairs for drinks. This was prior to dining at the excellent restaurant, Charlies, across the road.
Our room was clean and comfortable and the continental breakfast was adequate.
Our stay at the New Criterion was a very nice introduction to a lovely town. We shall be back.

The New Criterion Hotel is a delight. A great contrast to the often drab and ordinary motel room the New Criterion offers something different with an other-worldly, art deco decor and an ambience that is transporting. There's a high-tech extremely comfortable lounge room and even a verandah off your bedroom to take in a view of the town and a stunning sunset. Pam and Murray are very welcoming hosts who deserve merit for their meticulous restoration of a country charmer.

We arrived in Narrandera on our way to Melbourne and this was our last stopover and what a lovely little place! We had read the other reviews for the New Criterion on TA and what great service Murray the owner offered and for us this was exactly the same experience.

It is a stately old building which is incredibly well cared for and super clean. Murray showed us around and said he has had the place for 12 months and it looks like he has made a few changes including a big deck out the back and new carpets. It was obvious Murray really cares about the town and his hotel and has put a lot of effort into the litle details including lots of magazines and a common room with a range of dvd's and recorded tv series.

The rooms are smallish but very neat and clean. The bathrooms appeared to be recently renovated too. The bed was comfortable and probably the only negative comment would be the chintzy bedspread on the bed which matched the chair in the room. There is a tv to chillout with so really everything you need.

Murray bent over backwards to make us feel at home with lots of local information and offers for anything else we needed. He even cleaned our heavily bug splattered windscreen on the way out!

This converted pub in the heart of the town is a fantastic option for accomodation in Narranderra.
The room was lovely. Linen was clean and crisp, fresh towels etc. TV, balcony all good.
Nice continental brekki too.
The host, Murray, is fantastic, and the main reason for us bothering to write this review! We are going to plan another trip back, and will definitely stay there again.
