“If you Love Border Collies And Dogs, This Is The Place To Be!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2011

If you are a lover of Border Collies such as myself and dogs, I really recommend Pub Hill Farm because it truly gave me that experience because myself I can’t have a dog. I did an Internet Search for farmstays with Border Collies around mid last year and was blessed to find this place so close to where My parents live in Batemans Bay!
I stayed at Pub Hill Farm from Friday 6th May until the Friday 20th May 2011. The Proprietors Micki and Ian Thomlinson at the time were away in Kenya and Europe when I was there and Barbara the caretaker cooked the most wonderful big breakfasts!! Very delicious they were and you were so full, you never really needed anything later in the day! You also get to meet other guests and we had interesting subjects over the meal table, you feel accepted and being one of the family there!
The farm itself is about 9 kilometers from Narooma on the Wagonga Inlet which is in a very tranquil setting in the bush with plenty of bird life and parrots (King Parrots and Crimson Rosellas) that come near you that have gardens of rose bushes, close to Mt Dromedory and to the lookout area and bushwalks. The farm itself is the site where the was a pub at one stage where local timber fellers used to pop in and have a drink after a hard days work. The main farm building was built sometime in the 1970’s has an old charm character about the place.
It is one of the best accommodation places in Australia that you can have pets there and when I was walking the dogs, I had my two Indian Ringnecks Greenie and Harry putted out in the sun and as I returned late, Barbara a very kind and caring lady, brought my birds in from the cold and put a towel over there cage on the front patio made me feel that I was really being cared for and it can make such a difference from a world of today!

The little cottage down the back where I stayed had an old style country feeling about it, a beautiful comfortable bed to sleep in, plenty of DVD movies for you to watch, your own bathroom and toilet with coffee and tea making facilities which was very good!

The best part of my stay that I was given the privilege to walk the Border Collies Kitty, Sarfie and Couger. On Saturday 14th May 2011 during the Narooma Oyster Festival, I took three of the dogs at once walk them around Narooma which a feat I have never before done! On other days I walked Sarfie and Kitty around Narooma, Tuross Heads, Bemagui and Batemans Bay where my parents lived and visited them with the dogs twice, and they fell in love with Kitty and Sarfie!
Kitty Dog was my favourite though and I averaged walking about 10 to 15 kilometers every day with the dogs! On my departure is was quite sad to see three sad looking Border Collies seeing me leave especially Kitty that did’nt want me to go did’nt want to get out of the car!! They are very smart dogs Border Collies!
I had the most wonderful time walking the Border Collies in so many different places and thanks very much Barbara for letting me have that experience!
On the Friday I was very sad to have to leave Pub Hill especially I really missed those dogs! Hope to come back again in the future to this wonderful place!
(Border Collie Neil)

Peace, rest, relaxation, as well as superb breakfasts, charming and courteous hosts and breathtaking scenery. All these things and more keep bringing us back to Pub Hill Farm. The perfect place for winding down or re-charging. Just make sure you book for at least a two night stay. We have travelled all around Australia and can honestly say Pub Hill Farm is the best B&B we've ever stayed at.

“Don't miss it.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 February 2011

Pub Hill Farm was lovely.Tucked away on a hill with views over the Wagonga river, its only 10k from Narooma on the partly unsealed tourist route but it feels like a million miles.
It's not for those looking for sophisticated chain hotels - it's rustic but its got style. We stayed in the "French Provincial" room in the main house. It was clean and provided all the facilities we needed for our overnight stay.
Ian and Mickie are friendly and congenial hosts who take an obvious pride in their B&B. They are a mine of information on the area and its wildlife. We are not pet lovers but we can see that Pub Hill would particularly appeal to those who are. They have three amiable collies and there are wild kangaroos hopping around their 250 acre estate.
All this and it gets the prize for the best breakfast on the whole of our trip from Sydney to Melbourne and around Tasmania! We would thoroughly recommend it.

“Relax, refresh or recharge in seclusion!”

Karibu Cottage at Pub Hill farm is a secluded place on Wagonga Inlet as the cottage is out of site of the main house in beautiful bush overlooking the water. Directions to farm are very easy to follow. We were met by host Ian and the border collies. We chose this place because it is pet friendly it even has an enclosure where you can leave the dogs safely if you go out. Our dog was completely at home at Karibu and loved a visit from the border collies.
The cottage is very well appointed for a self contained stay and as well beautiful breakfast basket is provided on arrival by Micki. The breakfast hamper has homemade fresh bread, many breakfast ingedients (bacon, eggs, hash browns, tomatoes, juice, jams, fruit compote) supplemented by cereals, tea and coffee in the pantry. There is a French- Italian country style theme in the decor. The kitchen and bathroom are well equipped.
Relaxing is an easy option. A very comfortable lounge in an area with books, magazines TV and DVD's. A list of DVD's is provided and Micki came back with our request almost straight away. It rained for a couple of days which didn't spoil our visit because of the facilities and surrounds.
Narooma is a lovely area to explore and Ian and Micki give plenty of reviews for local restaurants but if you just want a complete break Karibu Cottage has it all.

“Superb location with superb hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2011

B&Bs stand and fall on their hosts, and with Micky and Ian this B&B stands above others.

In a superb, quiet location, just a few kilometres outside Narooma, with a beautiful view of the rolling hills and a river, Pub Hill Farm is a true gem.

Micky and Ian are superb, knowledgeable and exceptionally friendly hosts, who have a great stories to tell not only of the area but their fascinating lives lived around the world: and I felt part of their family, which includes a number of delightful dogs who welcome you on arrival. Breakfast was simply amazing: huge servings, delicious and filling: and I loved the fact we ate it at a large table with the other guests -- travellling solo most times, I always enjoy meeting people and finding out about them and discussions over what was usually a 90-minute breakfast were fascinating and entertaining.

I slept in the charming and delightful The Croft, and truly had the 3 of the best nights sleep I have ever had. And with a wide DVD collection, or the ability to being your own, I enjoyed a late-night movie before bed.

I will definitely be back, and heartily recommend this superb and unique, due to the wonderful Micky and Ian, B&B.
