“Modern, spacious and peaceful”

Stayed in a suite at Peppers Bale for 3 days before Christmas. Everything feels new and exclusive.
We arrived late so collected our key from the friendly reception at Peppers Salt Resort & Spa next door, just a half minute drive away.

We should have realised, but the suite was larger than we expected. We had an extra bedroom with ensuite. The main bedroom was luxurious with a huge spa bath on the other side of a clear screen and a huge showerhead in the generously sized shower. It was a shame we didn't make use of the fully equipped kitchen. We had a bit of ocean view but it is mostly obscured by trees. All around the apartments is a sprawling lawn with coastal pathways leading to the beach. The lawn is so vast and perfect it feels a bit like a golf course.

The accommodation has everything a person needs to unwind and relax. For my husband who needs it most, this included a vast array of free movies and internet, airconditioning and housekeeping of course, access to a mostly peaceful lap pool & spa, access to a coffee machine in the reception building at one end of the pool, easy walk to a beautiful endless beach (only drawback is the bluebottles), shops and restaurants close by so no need to leave the village. There are less families at Peppers Bale, so quieter than Peppers Salt Resort & Spa.

Around the pool area I was delighted to see a white pet rabbit roaming around, keeping the grass down. Was cute but timid.

Pillows - the standard pillows are not terribly comfortable, so I recommend selecting a latex one from the pillow menu on your first day.

Dinner at Season next door was lovely. I particularly enjoyed the light entrée of quinoa with herb salad, but all meals were lovely.

Rather than staying in the village the entire time, I enjoyed driving out to Kingscliff (only about 5 mins drive).

If you are looking to indulge in modern, spacious, private luxury accommodation on the coast then I recommend it.

Room Tip: We stayed on the second floor.

“Great family holiday location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

We stayed at Peppers Bale for 4 nights in December 2010 after previously staying at Peppers Salt in 2010. Both are fantastic for a relaxing family holiday but Bale is more exclusive and the appartments are huge.

At Bale, the full sized kitchen and laundry are a bonus, especially on a family holiday. The free movie library (available at both resorts) is fantastic with both recent releases and some old favourites.

The buffet breakfast at Season restaurant is included in the tariff and offers all the usual suspects and is perfectly adequate to satisfy everyone's tastes.

All in all, a great choice for a relaxing family holiday at a reasonable cost.

“positive and negative experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 December 2011

person found this review helpful

I have thought for a long time before writing this review, in fact I was waiting for a questionaire over the internet as is normally sent after all of our previous stays at various places but this didn't arrive. I didn't use the suggestions form at the hotel on check out as there wasn't time.
We stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment. Our group consisted of a very good friend and her adult daughter, myself and my adult daughter.
I tried several times to make a reservation by ringing Peppers. For various reasons I wanted to actually talk to someone at the resort to ask a few detailed questions. I left several messages that weren't responded to. Eventually I decided to book through the direct website and because I had been waiting for a phone call from the resort which never happened by time I booked instead of booking a two bedroom apartment we had to book a 3 bedroom one as the two bedroom apartments were booked out.
Eventually my phone call was returned but too late, this was of course very concerning to us.
The positives:
Check in: was very smooth, no problems.
Check out: again very smooth, no problems.
We were given an apartment on the third floor with ocean views for which we were very grateful.
The apartments were absolutely spotless and also very spacious.
There was no noise what so ever from other guests.
The negatives:
One BIG negative was on the Saturday and Sunday morning of our stay we had to wait for over half an hour each morning in a queue for breastfast.
When I mentioned this after the first day to Ibrahim he did say we could have room service breakfast and that there were over 500 guests staying in the Peppers resort so that was to be expected..
Firstly the room service breakfast is quite limited especially as regards to hot food so that really wasn't what we wanted and secondly I understand Peppers is a huge resort but when you are staying at Peppers Bale and you are actually paying top dollar for a secluded, luxury resort, this really isn't good enough at all. The fact that Peppers was at top capacity should not be the guests problem, there should be adequate arrangements made for Peppers Bale guests.
The food choices were varied once you were allocated a table but it was ABSOLUTELY chaotic.
The other negative and this isn't a huge one is that the lounge really needs to be replaced in the unit we stayed in, it was quite stained which happens at the beach, but as I said should be replaced. Apart from that the apartment was beautiful and we felt that we were staying in a lovely, quiet, relaxing beach house.

Dear gm7hj,

Thank you for your recent stay with us here at Peppers Balē Salt and thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding your experiences both prior to your arrival and throughout your stay.

We do thank you for your comments regarding our rooms and reception service, I was very pleased to read your positive feedback, howeverI was disappointed to read of the concerns you encountered in trying to make a reservation.

Though our reservations department is open only during business hours, our reception is available 24 hours per day and bookings can be made via the reception desk at Peppers Salt Resort and Spa.

As a result of your constructive feedback we have reviewed the processes in our reservations department to ensure that each and every guest that wishes to make a direct booking has the opportunity too.

With regards to our breakfast, this is an inclusion that many of our guests from both Peppers Balē and Peppers Salt Resort and Spa have included in their package. As you mentioned in your review, special arrangements for a room service breakfast can be made for Balē guests and we are now reviewing our selection of foods available to better suit those wishing to dine in their apartments.

Season Restaurant is open for breakfast from 6:30am-10:30am with most guests choosing to dine between 8:30am-9:30am. During this period there can be a wait for tables, though we do take measures to advise guests of congestion on weekends to try and ease the waiting period.

Again gm7hj, thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding your stay and please accept our apologies for the issues you encountered with reservations and at breakfast.

We do look forward to hopefully welcoming you back to Peppers Balē Salt in the future at which time I am certain you will thoroughly enjoy your stay.

Best regards

“Amazing Accomodation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

We have pretty high standards for accommodation when we travel and we were impressed staying here. The apartment (2 bedroom) is HUGE with good sized balconies and high end appliances. It's exceptionally clean and modern. Room service food is pretty average, but not terrible, kinds meals were actually really good, in fact my wife preferred those and ordered them instead for herself. Free movies was a great addition. Bale was a definite oasis, quieter and a little higher end than the other part of the resort. Their lobby had a really nice feel to it and the christmas carols were very pleasant.

A couple of things we feel they could stand to improve:

1) Checkout was very very slow. It was the holiday period however so some leeway can be afforded them in this regard. (We used the bale checkout)
2) Internet was HORRIBLY slow. I ended up using my cellphone as a wifi access point in preference to using the provided facility, This is something they need to immediately rectify.

The beach is handy, and there is a park which is nicely tended. The salt area is nice, hopefully even more development will occur there. Kingscliff as an area did nothing for us.

The pool area was nice, Not too noisy, I wish we had noticed the BBQ area sooner!

“Unbelievable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

Just stayed in a 2 bed resort room on the lower floor and found that it had everything we wanted. We booked it through lj hooker so it was privately owned. We weren't dissapointed as it had flat screen TVs in all 3 rooms and a BBQ on the balcony which overlooked the car ark and park. We had front row seats for the last Xmas carols, what a bonus. Our 2 young kids loved the pool the park and the bike riding paths, not to mention the new pub children's room. The restaurants across the park are great, particularly Fins, though the all of them serve fantastic food.
We will definitely be back again and again. And did I mention the shopping at Kingscliff for the wife?

Room Tip: We stayed on the ground floor and it was great.
