When we booked the accommodation Meg's Cottage we felt it was rather pricey. However when we got there it was excellent. The house has everything a family needs ie: oven, washing machine, cooling (important in Hay in Summer), DVD player. The most impressive part was the back yard - it is enormous. Meg's Cottage was worth every cent we paid because it really was home away from home - everything was there ready to use.
Pleasantly surprised at our first layover on our Brisbane odessay. Room was clean and comfortable though a little cramped, but that's only a personal preference. There was a nice little garden section with park bench seating where you could sit with a drink and have a cigar away from the rooms themselves and without impacting on other guests. The big plus was that the motel was in the middle of the main street close to all the shop and situtated right next door a great little restaurant who served great meals. Could have stayed an extra night if forward accommodation was not pre booked. Staff was prompt and courteous, not overly chatty though.
On our recent trip to Hay we were fortunate to stay at "Meg's Cottage" - an extension of the Nicholas Royal Motel. A three bedroom spacious cottage equipped with all the essentials for a family or group to stay together...the owners Andrew and Deb have thought of everything to make this the best way to stay in Hay. Beautiful decor, the most comfortable beds, large lounge and dining rooms, entertainment systems, a bbq and lots more....too many to mention! It is across the road from the local pool and a few minutes walk to the centre of town. The prices are fantastic for all that you get...the whole family loved it!
I cycled 133km from Balranald and needed a quiet, comfortable bed in the heart of town. Monica and the welcoming staff are great ambassadors for this lovely town. I was so impressed that I stayed an extra night. When I visit Hay again, I will definitely stay here for its central location and luxurious decor at an affordable price.
