Deniliquin does not rate as a major tourist destination despite the vaunted attractions of the October Ute Muster and Blue Singlet Challenge. But it is a delightful variation from the usual Canberra-Melbourne route and adds a new dimension to the experience of country Australia. The Coach House Motel was a bit of a pig in a poke but turned out to be good value for money, quiet although easy to find on a variation from the main thoroughfare through the town. Plenty of room and very clean but without frills. The restaurant/bistro attched is excellent and the steaks are among the best I have ever eaten. My wife declined the opportunity to eat anywhere else on our second night after she had tasted the food in the bistro.
