I stayed in a three bedroom apartment for four days. The cost was $70 per day for each of the three occupants. This is not far from the cost of a bed in a backpacker hostel, which you should keep in mind.

The place itself is comfortable, with kitchen facilities, small veranda overlooking a lake, garage parking, air conditioning, pool and generally lush green surrounds. Two bathrooms and tastefully decorated.

The cons: the place is cheap so you have to expect some trade off.

Cleanliness is not a strong point: if you are a clean freak, this place is not for you. It did not overly bother me to see coffee cup marks on the sofa nor the several other like details. Location is 2kms out of town so its either a long walk or $10 cab ride. No room service was received during our 4 day stay.

Overall, was very pleased with what I received for the price.

Stayed here for a week while working locally at a clients conference (they stayed at the Byron @ Byron resort - we wished we stayed there it looked amazing)
But we had chosen the more budget option & for the Price this is a great place.
1BR Apartment was clean & spacious if a little dated in decor , but full Kitchen , bathroom with bath & shower & laundry facilities & a separate Bedroom. small patio off lounge room handy for smokers.
Parking could be an issue as one spot per double apartment (upstairs / downstairs) we had both apartments & one vehicle so were usually ok apart from the day next doors apartment thought he would park in our spot. I think there is more parking on site , but you wouldn't really want to be walking through the complex.
Need a car as this resort is not really close to anything , a 5- 10 minute drive into town. It does have its own pool area but we didn't use (it was a rainy november week)

Travelling up to Byron from Sydney for Bluesfest before Easter, I arrived at Lakeside Apartments very tired , as the planes had been delayed for hours in Sydney. I was met by a very professional Onsite Manager, Heath,who showed me to my one bedroom apartment in the complex, where I spent the next seven days.

The apartment was spotlessly clean, and very comfortable, kitchen was well equipped, very comfortable bedroom with a Digital TV, another larger TV in the living room, Large bathroom including laundry where I was able to wash and dry all my clothes, small BBQ on the big covered in verandah was a bonus, and outdoor setting, where I was able to relax with a drink in the evenings, and watch the sunset.

Although I spent most of my time at the Festival, I was able to take the short 20 min walk from Lakeside through the bush to Tallow Beach, what a beautiful place; town about 1.8 ks away, not a problem as there was plenty of transport available,and I enjoyed the fact that I was away from the noise of town.

Heath the Manager pointed out all the best spots in and around Byron, including the best eateries.

All in all, although I got off to a bad start with delayed flights from Sydney, a great Byron holiday during Bluesfest, and I would highly recommend Lakeside Apartments to anyone travelling to Byron, who wants reasonable rates and clean comfortable accommodation with a large pool and BBQ area, a beautiful lake, and very helpful friendly management.

Bryon Bay is beautiful- a great place to visit. But do yourself a favour and do not stay at Lakeside apartments.

The carpet in the apartment was dirty, dishwashing liquid and powder were not supplied, and when we arrived (unsurprisingly) the dishes in the kitchen cupboard were visibly dirty and smelly. We purchase dishwashing liquid and wash them ourselves for them to be used.

The carpet and couches felt dirty, The bathroom had black grime throughout and the hot or the cold symbol was missing from the tap in the bathroom (I can't remember which but it reflects how dilapidated the apartment was).

The apartment had a small court yard and table and chairs- however we could not used it as the dining set was covered in dirt and the court yard as a whole was covered in leave litter.

During our stay I slept in a single bed in the upstairs room- the bed was uncomfortably hard, it was stifling not as there was no air conditioning in the room, when we opened the window highway noise was too loud to allow us to sleep, and the fan in the room was also loud enough to make it difficult to get to sleep. My sheet also had a large hole in it. I usually have no difficulty sleeping but I experienced significant difficulty getting to sleep, and staying asleep during my stay here.

The other draw back of the apartments is the location- too far outside of Bryon to practically access the town without a car. The Bryon taxi service is good- however I would save your money and put it towards better accommodation closer to town.
Walking though the apartment complex we could see that other apartments were in much better condition which may explain the mixed reviews for the apartment son Trip Advisor.
