Air-con broken down, pool much smaller than pictured on the website, lots of noise from the nightclub nextdoor, terrible service from the frankly hostile concierge. All in all.. A disaster. Stay elsewhere.

Generally the hotel was fine, but a little disappointing (see the good and bad below), would recommend looking for somewhere else where you get better value for money (and just use The Beach Bar)!

THE GOOD
- The location, right opposite the beach and amongst shops and restaurants.
- The food, expensive, but our breakfast was included and was great & restaurant staff very helpful and friendly.
- The Bar, gorgeous big patio/bar area.
- Parking - which is a necessity in Byron.
- There's a nice little pool/jacuzzi area, but it seemed to be continuously occupied by a bunch of teenagers the entire time we were there, which was a pity!

THE BAD
- We were given an unserviced room on arrival and receptionist didnt seem that bothered/nor was she apologetic when told her & told us we'd just have to wait.
- Also, while the rooms are adequate and spacious, they are nothing special & got quite cold. They could do with modernising/adding a few more nice comforts generally.

When you stay at Byron the hoilday is geared around relaxing. Our room which we stayed in was over $400 a night. Great spot as the Web site clearly states, close to the beach and pub.
What it doesn't show, it is joined to the biggest pub in Byron. We stayed there from Thursday night through to Saturday night. At approx 5:00 am in the morning everyday all the the bins, skips and rubbish is removed by a 40 tonne truck. To descibe how loud this is, its like a jet plane taking off.over and over. Just thousands of bottles crashing into a empty truck then the bins and skips just dropped on to the ground with no care at all. After approaching the staff on this issue, there wasn't any care at all, as we should of expected it to happen. The staff member's excact words were " we don't control the bin company times". And that was it no sorry no nothing. Our room face directly East and the back street is behind us, I would strongly advised not to go in these rooms unless you like getting up early.

Lovely hotel and staff that go out of thier way to be friendly and the hotel is truely right on the beach
