A very clean and comfortable good sized room including washing machine & dryer, well equipped kitchen, balcony and secure basement parking. Very helpful, friendly staff who made it easy to book an extra night at short notice. We liked the strict rules regarding noise; the vegetarian cafe downstairs; easy walk to shops and beach.

Room Tip: If you haven't booked online (best option as this place books out fast), go to the Byron Bay Inf...

“Great bang for your buck”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We were pleasantly surprised with these accommodations. The rooms can get hot yes but with a fan on it becomes a comfortable temperature. I believe people do have the choice of having a/c so if that is something that is important to you just book accordingly. Staff is very friendly and always willing to help out. The free Internet and washer and dryer in your room is an awesome bonus seeing as most hotels charge up to $20 dollars a day for wi-fi. The rooms are slightly dated but their cleanliness makes up for it. Having your own kitchenette is an added bonus as well. I think that this motel is well worth the cost and would recommend it any day :)

Room Tip: If your looking for a queen bed make sure you request this when booking.

“Between Poor and Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 January 2012

I went on a family holiday in October last year to Byron Bay for a family wedding. One of the worst trips I have ever had with planes cancelled and getting to Byron a day late. We were charged a "late" fee by motel receptionist due to our plane being cancelled and rescheduled and also we were charged extra from what our family was quoted. We may not have worried so much about the extra cost if the motel was nicer, but of course it would be better to stick by what your guest is quoted. Took a while for motel to pay money back.
Room it self was in great need of a make over with dodgy bunk beds and old quilt covers although bathrooms with washing machine and dryer were a good bonus to our rooms.
Within good walking distance to the main shopping area in byron bay but not so close to where the reception of the wedding we were attending (although we were told it was "close" by within 5 min walk).
Balcony was ok, not enough chairs for 5 guests. Good Motel rules of no noise after 10pm although we were not aware that with booking a room you had "extra" outside the motel noise from passers by.

The author of this review is not the person that made the booking directly with us and appears to have the booking details confused. Originally this booking was for 3 studio apartments including 1 weekly booking and 2 studio apartments booked for the weekend in October making the overall rate cheaper. Due to the weekly booking being cancelled and the number of people staying in-house for the two weekend bookings the nightly rate increased accordingly as it would have done had they stayed at another accommodation provider.
No refund has been performed on this booking as the guest had been charged correctly. Perhaps a refund may have been reimbursed from their airline provider due to the cancelled & changed flights. The guests were charged a late check in fee of $10 as specified on our web page due to guests checking in just prior to midnight.
We are happy to say we have replaced all of our floral bedspreads while the quilts we had were not old we have listened to our customers who felt that the floral patterns were no longer classified as modern. In reference to the bedding configurations we could provide an additional double bed in the units instead of the custom made double bunks with storage drawers however due to popular demand from our guests we have kept the bunks instead. 5 chairs are not provided in apartments that only sleep 4 people which explains why there were only 4 chairs in each of the 2 units. If the other apartment which was next door was visiting, perhaps they could have carried a chair next door to provide sufficient seating for 5 people.
Byron Bay surf Lifesaving Club Wedding Venue is located on the beachfront next to Byron Bay’s Surf Club in close walking distance to our motel.
While we do have a noise policy in place for in-house guests. People come to Byron Bay to go out on Friday & Saturday nights and while we can regulate in-house noise the general public are entitled to walk on the footpaths & talk

“You get what you pay for plus...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

I agree whole heartedly with Eileen C. This complex is very central to the buzz of Byron. It has under cover parking (a plus for a budget motel) which is locked during the night for added security. Our room was spacious, had everything you needed. We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed a pleasant stay though it was a little stuffy because of our door facing a brick wall. The balconies are bigger than I expected and if you are facing the right direction you can pick up a nice breeze. This motel is for those who want to see Byron without paying the ridiculous cost that other more comfortable units charge. Byron is expensive and you should expect that before you book. So this accommodation is affordable to anyone. We found the guy at the office was very friendly (contrary to another review). He even does the housekeeping. Which keeps the cost down. Overall I found the unit satisfactory, after all when in Byron who wants to stay in doors all day when there is so much to see and do outdoors. There is an added bonus of delicious aromas from the downstairs vegetarian restaurant which was very popular. The no noise after 10pm policy worked while we were there too. We stayed on a Friday and Saturday night and slept very peacefully with the verandah door open. Any complainers about this property just don't realize how expensive it is to stay at Byron and given the budget of most ordinary people, this Motel is excellent for those who don't want to be ripped off because of the name. After all you get what you pay for

Room Tip: Units facing the northside (ours was #10) don't get a lot of breeze on the balcony.

“Stifling Heat.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2012

We were not aware that the rooms were above shops. Our Room no.12 was above a restaurant with the expected noise factor. It had been an extremely hot day with the rooms facing the West, so we kept the curtains drawn during the afternoon which was hot as there was no air conditioning just a very slow ceiling fan. There were no windows to keep open safely except for a small bathroom window. It was stifling. We kept cool by soaking our pyjamas in the sink. We were woken early by noises associated with shopfronts and maintenance. The bathroom was not very clean. We will never return even if it is free. The man at reception was great. We did not have any noise from the other rooms.

Room Tip: Go in cooler months for room comfort

"Pleasant in Every Way" this was a review posted on 8th January from a lady who stayed just several days earlier. We love greeting and sharing our hospitality with our guests who are usually so happy and positive as the lovely lady who posted the previous review. The only shop that makes minimal voice noise is the restaurant as no guest has ever reported noise from any other shop. Some of our balcony units face west and you did stay at Byron Bay in the hottest time of the year when everyone wants to come for that reason because it is hot and they can enjoy our lovely cool surf at the hottest time of the day in the afternoon. Your room had a sliding glass door to the balcony which can be left open and the screen has a clip to it, had you done this and turned the fan on any 1 of the 3 speeds you would have enjoyed a breeze. The entire roof of the motel was repainted on 2 days and this was the only minimal noise , this was the only maintenance work done and we did not receive any other complaints.
