Sometimes it is the places that you happen upon by chance that turn out to be the best. Sierra Lodge might rate itself as a 3.5 Star establishment, but many aspects of this B&B would put many 5 star hotels to shame.
The rooms are small but very comfortable with ensuite bathrooms. The beds are great for a good night's sleep with plump doonas and lots of pilows. However, it is the attention to detail that puts this place ahead of the others. Janice and Paul are the perfect hosts.
Our bags were carried to our rooms and we were given an overview of the Lodge as soon as we arrived. There was an abundance of toiletries and even bathrobes and slippers. Not only were rooms cleaned in the morning, but dirty cups and glasses were replaced during the day while we were out. There were bottles of chilled water in the fridge, fresh homemade cookies and loads of local tourist information in the rooms. And it was SO CLEAN! It would have to be the cleanest place in which I have stayed.
Light breakfast was included in the moderate tariff and it was fresh and lovely. We had supper at the Lodge on our second night and the table was set for all of us staying the weekend. The menu is limited but wonderful and the meals are hearty - don't let the word "supper" mislead you. Why would you eat elsewhere?
The Lodge has a communal lounge, games room with pool table, spa pool and a drying room for those who want to ski the slopes in winter.
The other guest were singing the praises of both the Lodge and its hosts. It is most truly deserved. We will telling everyone we know about Sierra Villa Lodge.
We will be back!
