“Good stopover”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2008

Stayed one night on the way back to Canberra Airport after a full day's skiing at Perisher. I had read the reviews and am happy to report I agree with them. The rooms are clean and comfortable; the hosts thoughtful and accommodating. My only gripe (and it wasn't with the Lodge) was that finding somewhere to eat in Berridale was difficult: the pizza oven was switched off at 7.30pm at the local takeaway. So next time, I will buy the food in Jindabyne and ask the Lodge hosts if I can reheat it in the oven at the Lodge!

  • Liked — Cleanliness
  • Disliked — lack of eating places in the town

“A fantastic place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2008

This is a lovely B & B. It is hard to add to what the previous reviewer has said, we enjoyed every moment. We were travelling with a 1 year old, who they made very welcome as she explored the whole building!

Breakfast superb; the whole stay you felt like you were at a friends house! Keep up the good work.

“It would be hard to top this!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2007

Sometimes it is the places that you happen upon by chance that turn out to be the best. Sierra Lodge might rate itself as a 3.5 Star establishment, but many aspects of this B&B would put many 5 star hotels to shame.
The rooms are small but very comfortable with ensuite bathrooms. The beds are great for a good night's sleep with plump doonas and lots of pilows. However, it is the attention to detail that puts this place ahead of the others. Janice and Paul are the perfect hosts.
Our bags were carried to our rooms and we were given an overview of the Lodge as soon as we arrived. There was an abundance of toiletries and even bathrobes and slippers. Not only were rooms cleaned in the morning, but dirty cups and glasses were replaced during the day while we were out. There were bottles of chilled water in the fridge, fresh homemade cookies and loads of local tourist information in the rooms. And it was SO CLEAN! It would have to be the cleanest place in which I have stayed.
Light breakfast was included in the moderate tariff and it was fresh and lovely. We had supper at the Lodge on our second night and the table was set for all of us staying the weekend. The menu is limited but wonderful and the meals are hearty - don't let the word "supper" mislead you. Why would you eat elsewhere?
The Lodge has a communal lounge, games room with pool table, spa pool and a drying room for those who want to ski the slopes in winter.
The other guest were singing the praises of both the Lodge and its hosts. It is most truly deserved. We will telling everyone we know about Sierra Villa Lodge.
We will be back!

  • Liked — The cleanliness of everting and the hospitality of the hosts. The food was also wonderful.
  • Disliked — I can't fault this establishment.
