“cosy, comfortable, great views”

I stayed here with 6 women walking the SW coastal path. There are 8 bedrooms in the hotel and we were the only people staying there so it felt like our very own hotel.

The bedrooms are spacious and clean and you can't hear other people in the hotel so very condusive to a good nights sleep.

The lounge is beautifull and because of its location on top of the hill. You can see the entire stretch of the beach and the coast. Very beautifull.

The hotel owners are very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was one of the best we have eaten and we have all travelled quite a lot.

I cannot recommend this place enough. It is really cosy, homelly and lovely. The photos on the web site do not capture this lovely place.

“Will be returning as soon as we can !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2010

We stayed here for two nights with our 4 legged friend "Molly" for a much needed "escape"from the city. This is a great place to get away from it all and know that your dog will be made as welcome as you are. The beautiful sandy beach is within easy to reach (a few mins walk along the headland and down some steps.) This is the perfect location for coastal walks - just wish we had booked for longer as I really didn't want to go home !

The breakfasts are fantastic and the evening meals are just as good as other reviewers have alluded to, if not better. We all felt really at home here and are already trying to get some dates organised to make a return visit. I'd also be happy to stay in this place with just me and my dog if my partner decided not to join us; I felt really safe here.

My only criticism (and this is just me being ultra picky!) is that our bathroom was a tiny bit damp - possibly due to poor extraction. Other than that, a great stay in a well run and friendly place in the most fabulous location.

“Exceptional B&B in lovely location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 September 2010

We've stayed in some of the best hotels in the country, and also some of the worst. Blue Bay although not big or flashy is one of the best. Don't be put off by its unprepossessing exterior: go for the perfect location in a wonderful spot on the north Cornish coast and the exceptionally good restaurant which could easily pass muster in any number of the UK's top hotels (or just ranked against restaurants). Great breakfasts in particular. Definitely worth a visit just to eat, especially if you've had the misfortune to end up next door at the big hotel.
Ideally located for the surfing and rock pooling beaches of Mawgan Porth, Bedruthan Steps and Constantine Bay (and many more - these happen to be our favourites). Lovely cream teas at the National Trust cafe a mile up the road at Carnewas.
Child and dog friendly, but not so as to be a negative as other reviewers mention: dogs don't come into the restaurant or bar areas. Free wi=fi.

“Wonderful family hotel, amazing atmosphere and food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2010

Pippa and James were superb! The food is out of this world and totally unexpected for such a small hotel. We ate in the restaurant in the evenings because we were travelling with our 5 month old baby, and so we took the baby monitor into the restaurant next door with us. They made us feel very welcome, and their own lovely children were very friendly! We felt like part of the family.
Our only negative, which is very small, is that the bathroom was damp as it was in need of modernisation and there was no were to hang wet things, but Pippa came to the rescue and tumble dried some baby bits for us!
James is a wonderful chef! Breakfast was a treat every morning and dinner was consistently of an exceptionally high standard.
The hotel is small and quiet, and so perfect for a lazy family or couples romantic retreat.
The bedrooms are clean and have everything in them you would need...lovely organic teabags etc replenished everyday!
As the last reviewer mentioned, the hotel is up above Mawgan Porth, and so the walk from the beach is very steep, but we drove down with the stroller to the beach and parked in the adjacent car park.
The hotel is PERFECTLY situated for all of the following: Mawgan Porth and surrounding areas, Eden Project, ST Austell, Fowey, Padstow, Newquay, Lappa Valley Steam train and so much more! The weather was inclement on all but 1 day of our trip, but with Pippa advising on what to do in wet weather, there was plenty to do to keep us occupied.
We will definately revisit the Blue Bay Hotel to see Pippa and James.

“fantastic hospitality, fantastic food and lovely views, would recommend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2010

felt comfortable from the moment we walked in, all other residents lovely too. My 8 year old son loved it. The beach is close but if walking back to hotel the hill is quite steep however the fact that the hotel is high up gives the great views.
The food served at the hotel is excellent and would recommend eating there, people book from outside the hotel as it as such a good reputation.
