My mom and I stayed in 704 Kurtz and were just delighted! The room is so clean and beautiful! You step in and you automatically feel comfortable and "at home". The room has a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, hairdryer, and iron/board. The room is very spacious and immaculately clean. You can even feel comfortable walking in bare feet. The beds are comfortable, there is a large tv with DVD player and movies, and a skylight in the bathroom. There were two complimentary mugs that you can have filled for free within the village, water bottles in the refrig, and a small basket of goodies (fudge samples and jam). Each room also has a designated parking spot for convenience.
The price may be a bit more than a chain hotel room, but it is worth it! The comfort and cleanliness of the rooms is fantastic, but also remember that the price includes breakfast at the village restaurant. You can choose from french toast, eggs and sausage, or oatmeal. Also, you are staying right in the village, which is so convenient. So you are definitely getting your money's worth.
The village is also as cozy as the rooms. You can stroll around and shop, grab something to eat at the restuarant or cafe, sip a free cup of coffee in your mug, or grab an ice cream or bag of kettle korn. The shops include everything from purses, souvenier type items, a Christmas shop, the homemade jams/butters/salsas/etc store, fabrics and quilts, jewelry, local crafted items, country/cabin decor, and so much more. The village is clean, well kept, and we felt safe walking around in the evenings. In the evenings, you can sit on the front porch of the village inn and watch as the Amish buggies go by. So relaxing and peaceful.
If you are coming to enjoy the village, I would recommend giving yourself two days. One day may be rushed b/c the shops close at 6pm. Two days will give you time to be leisurely, enjoy the surrounding shops, and give you time for a buggy ride.
Also, there are a few other shops within walking distance of the village, I highly recommend the one across from the post office and 'Plain Pine' just down the road from the village has Amish crafted furniture. There are additional shops within a few minutes drive in Bird-in-Hand. I recommend the 'Log Cabin Quilt Shop and Fabrics' and the Farmers Market. The Farmers Market had handmade crafted items, wonderful locally canned and baked items, and beautiful handmade Amish quilits at a much more reasonable price than anywhere else.
Room Tip: 704 Kurtz was a wonderful room, but there isn't much of a view. You see the side of a building...
