It had all the shortcomings of a budge hotel. We had to shlep our bags up a metal staircase and along an outdoor corridor, the bathroom was tiny, there was no real lobby, and breakfast consisted of stale packaged donuts. The front desk clerk was grumpy and had an attidtude. That said, everything else was great. The room was clean, and had only a slight smell of Indian spices. The beds seemed to be new and were comfortable, the linnel was clean a crisp, the towels were fluffy and soft. WE were enroute to Florida, and just wanted a clean, quiet and inexpensive place to sleep. Although there are cheaper hotels in the area, given the complaints that others have had, this place was a great deal, and we would stay there again.,

We had no hotel reservations when we arrived in Frackville. We found the Econolodge on our Garmin. Outside looked older but clean and had all these award banners hanging outside.
As soon as we entered the small office we knew we might have a problem. There was no air running so it was hot and had a horrible odor.
We asked to see the room first. At first blush it was okay but a walk-thru showed us the bathroom was so small that the bathtub was partially hidden by a wall. You had to look around the wall to see the end of the tub. Of course this wall was pretty grungy. The air conditioner was running and the ceiling above the A/C had dust balls hanging from it!
No thanks - we went elsewhere. It had a AAA Platinum Award in the office but we would give it a "Lead" Rating.

Room was clean and dog friendly (which we have to have). We travel home to NY each May and this is a convenient stop. After trying several motels along Rt 81 in PA we decided this one was ok for a one night stop. Wish there was more dog walking areas but we do ok for one night. Even gotten to know a few neighbors by walking by each year. Folks in the office are accomodating to us. We request a first floor for easy out for the dogs. We request a room where we can see the truck/trailer and we get it. What more can you ask for?

Room did not smell good. Bathroom floor tile grout was either absent or full of mildew. Ceiling in bathroom also had mildew. The leg supporting the sink was broken. The sink did not hold water. The shower ran alternately hot and cold and had wallpaper peeling off along with paint peeling. The bathroom vent did not work. The doorjams were in desperate need of paint. The continental breakfast was pre-packaged bagels or muffin with instant coffee. Much too overpriced for the stay.
