“A wonderful place to relax and enjoy the beautiful countryside”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

Murphin RIdge is very special. The cabins in the woods are exceptionally comfortable with wonderful king sized beds, attractive furniture, a jacuzzi tub and a remote controled fireplace. Looking out the windows you just see woods.
The breakfasts that come with the rooms are incredibly good. The dinners are excellent. And a $!0 box lunch is a real bargain. The early 1800s farm house that serves as the restaurant and gift shop is a beatufiul building. The sun room addition is great for breakast where we saw all types of birds feeding outside the windows. THe hiking trails are nice and you can walk on the quiet road with almost no traffic as well.

Most importantly, the inn is so well run. The innkeepers are a warm and highly intelligent couple whose high taste level makes everything about the inn better.

And since the inn is approximately 1 1/2 hours or less from anywhere in greater Cincinnati, Greater Cincinnatians are missing out by not spending a couple of days in thie special place.

Room Tip: All the cabins are nice. Some have king beds and some queens. The 10 rooms in the lodge are nice but...

“Wonderfully managed country inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011

We spent two nights in a king bedded cabin. The photos online are accurate: the cabins are immaculate, our bed and linens were first rate, and everything worked well (very concise handouts to help introduce you to the cabin). The food was better than I expected in terms of how imaginative both the entrees and soups were; the chicken--sourced locally and organic--was even better than what I get at Whole Foods. The service was good to excellent (ask for Levi), and the owner serves most expertly as sommelier. Both of the owners are charming, clever, and helpful but not intrusive. You'll hate to leave.

Room Tip: Ask the owner to help you choose wine: he has a more extensive cellar than appears on the wine list...

“Looking for tranquility and great food?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

My wife and I recently returned from our 7th visit to this fantastic B&B and are counting down the days until our next visit! We always stay in one of the nine Amish built cabins in the secluded wooded area just a short romantic stroll from the main inn. For a bit less seclusion, there are 10 uniquely decorated rooms located in the main inn. We especially enjoy dining on selections from the seasonable menu of superb, first class meals while looking out over the rolling farm fields surrounding the area. For repeat visitors familiar with the inn and dining experience, you can actually feel the day-to-day stress leave your body as you drive through the Amish community and the road leading into the inn. Take the recommendation from all of the reviews posted online and treat yourself to a stay at Murphin Ridge, you'll be back again and again. I know that we will!

“Tranquil setting, great food, and friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

Our second visit to the Murphin Ridge Inn did not disappoint. My husband and I felt ourselves relaxing the moment we arrived. Room #4, "Cardinal", in the Guest House was very nicely furnished, clean and roomy. The view was beautiful. The food was excellent! (I bought one of their cookbooks.) The staff members were fun and friendly. The common room had a TV, board games, books, magazines, and a piano. The weather happened to be rainy during our stay, so no tennis this time. Perhaps next time, as we will certainly return.

Thanks for taking the time to tell others of Murphin. We are glad your stay was reflective of all we strive for. Come back to the Ridge when the sun shines. The tennis court was just resurfaced!

“first class B & B in gorgeous southern Ohio”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

My boyfriend and I stayed in cabin 6 for our first visit to this lovely B&B located in the gently rolling foothills of the Appalachian mountains. The cabin was set in a circle with about six other cabins, far enough away from the Inn for peace and quiet, but not too far to walk for gourmet breakfast and dinner. King sized bed very comfortable, soft sheets and towels, nice jacuzzi, two person shower with jets all over, small refrigerator, and toilet in its own closet. Not much counter space around sink for cosmetics or lotions, but that was only a minor problem. One thing I loved was how good the room smelled each time we walked in! Like flowers.
The breakfasts were wonderful, including gourmet French toast with pecans, or a ham & egg scramble with fresh biscuits and coffee cake. The Inn uses local free range chickens and local produce as much as possible....plus they have their own gardens. Dinners were equally delicious, very gourmet, with excellent fresh fish choices that changed every night, imaginatively presented. Service is simply superior. Daryl and Sherry are so hospitable, and Daryl is very humorous. One night when we arrived at the Inn for dinner he had one whole room of people singing! He loves to sing.
The Inn is set on about 147 acres with several miles of hiking trails through woods and pasture. Very nice easy hikes. Close by is the Davis Memorial State Nature Preserve, where we hiked without encountering anyone else, past a beautiful clear stream surrounded by two types of dolomite cliffs. Saw a kingfisher and a beaver. The trail there joins with the Buckeye trail, and going to the end of the preserve takes only a little over an hour. The Edge of Appalachia Preserve and Serpent Mound are not far away.
The Murphin Ridge Inn is a beautiful, peaceful get-a-away into nature. We're going back in wildflower season!

Room Tip: All cabins are quiet, but numbers 7 through 9 are isolated from the others and have beautiful views...

We are so pleased that your stay with us was a good one. You seem to understand the "feel" of Murphin. Do come back when the wildflowers are at their best. AND THANK YOU!
