We had to be in the area for a business trip and decided to try to find a room in the area before heading back home the next day. We decided on this place because it was near our last stop that day, it was very close to the casino that we wanted to visit, the rooms looked great on the website, and we got a killer deal on their Facebook page for a themed suite.
This seems to be a basic motel with a few themed rooms thrown in the mix. The property was regular motel style and appeared to be clean and well ran. The front desk was very nice. There was a pool that you could see from the front desk area that looked nice and we seen a few people enjoying this. The regular rooms were very inexpensive and would probably be okay for someone traveling through the area. The themed rooms, we thought, were a bit expensive for what you got.
We stayed in the Ace's Wild room. This is a basic, small, hotel room that is made a bit more fun by adding a theme. There was an awesome Jacuzzi with mirrors around it and a starlight effect above it -- very nice and relaxing. The bed was comfy and also had the same starlight effect above that. The bathroom was small and had a shower setup that was cool in theory with multiple shower heads; however, we did not think that this setup worked particularly well as you could not get all the shower heads to spray a good stream at the same time. I'm sure it is a water pressure issue, but it kind of defeated the purpose of the whole setup. The room was clean, but we could see some updates that might spruce it up a bit like carpet fraying, etc. If you get a good deal, I would say go for it. To us, just having the nice Jacuzzi made it worthwhile and we would probably stay there again if in the area.
They served the typical hotel breakfast in the morning, which was fine and saved us from having to stop right away for something to eat; however, don't expect anything out of the norm here.
There are not many hotels in this area, so we think this is a good option. They also have a Designer Inn and Suites nearer our home (Galena, IL.) and we are planning on checking this one out too.
