We were heading to Gilboa Quarry for our Advanced Open Water dives and wanted a place to stay near the Quarry. Through an online search I found Rose Haven. The room was very clean and large, with a large closet and full en-suite bathroom. There was a small television with a VCR, but no cable or satellite. The queen bed was quite comfortable, but the frame and headboard were very squeaky. The owners proved to be very nice and helpful while with suggestions while we were in the area. Although the owners were busy volunteering in town, as Ottawa had just started to recover from disastrous flooding, they never neglected us or the accommodations. We couldn't really enjoy the Jacuzzi because of the horrendous stench the flooding created outside (the whole area smelled like rotting vegetation), but the smell was completely absent indoors, so we enjoyed the rest of our stay in the room. Even though the place is very nice, we quickly decided that the B & B experience is not for us: too quiet, too close, and we don't really like antiques. We prefer to view them in a museum and have more modern surroundings. The only negative I can remember is that we did not get the welcome plate of cookies. Oh well, it was definitely worth the try to see if we would like the B & B experience, and at a rate of $70 per night including a nice breakfast we do not regret trying.
