Not a horrible experience. My son had a boat given to him by his brother-in-law in Indy and I got the pleasure of the 1000 mile trip to retrieve it. I got a friend to drive out with me arriiving at 6:30PM and leaving at 7:15. Our plan was to play it by ear as to making a complete drive home. We would have arrived at 3:00 am not allowing for much sleep. I decided to stop somewhere North of Columbus on I-71 and stay overnight before the final 3-4 hour journey home.
At the Mid-Ohio exit I decided to turn left to the knights Inn. I only wanted a place to sleep that was out of the heat and somewhat clean. It was around 11:30 PM. This knights Inn fit the bill.
The desk clerk was polite and helpful. We got the room for $50 on this summer mid week trip with a AAA discount. The room was a pleasant surprise. It had that common "hotel deodorizer" smell but was definitely a non-smoking room. It was durning the heat wave of 2006 so the 95 degree day had left residual heat. We cranked the A/C and cooled the room. In fact by morning it felt like a refirgerator. While the rooms opened with an old Key they were clean and well kept. This was obviously an old hotel - I think had formerly been the derrick hotel. It had towels and soap. while no coffee in the room there was a TV, Microwave and refrigerator. two double beds as well. The TV worked well. We slept thru the night showered in the morning with the fresh soft water. The Continental breakfast was a cheap one with tiny boxed type doughnuts and two cereal flavors. The coffee was weak. For a $50 room for two people that was fine. A fair continental breakfast is well worth $3-$5 per person. I'd rate this breakfast at $2.50. It appeared that this place was well used by traveling contractors. Men who would spend a week or more there while doing local work. I however was very happy to find it as on a previous trip in this direction had stayed at a hampton inn at the previous exit off I71 and it had cost me about $80 three years prior. While that one had a pool and exercise room, I was only looking for a place to sleep and shower.
Good luck on your travels and be Safe
