From the outside, this hotel looks wonderful - modern and new. The lobby looks very nice too. However, I encountered several issues with this hotel, some small and some large. Upon check-in, I brought most of my luggage in. Received my room key and proceeded to my room on the 3rd or 4th floor. Got off the elevator and noticed their was dirt and litter on the hallway floor. (Note - the same dirt and litter was present the next day as well).
Walked a very long distance to my room, only to find out that my key did not work. I proceeded all the way back to the front desk with all luggage in tow. Front desk clerk was apologetic and provided me with 2 keys this time - all of them worked when I finally made it back to my room. This issue by itself - not a terrible deal as it has happened at several other hotels.
My room was not very clean. Lamp was not working. Toilet was very loud. TV channels as other reviewers have notated were not clear. The bed unfortunately was extremely uncomfortable. As another reviewer notated, the sheets for some reason kept coming off the bed. I could not sleep well at this hotel. The heater/AC unit was also louder than most. The lamp had something dirty wiped on it. The ice container was not cleaned out the next day by the hotel staff. The hot water for the shower would not be considered hot but just rather warm.
The hotel website indicated the property has a hot tub/whirlpool. This is incorrect. When I inquired as to where the hot tub was located I was told that I could take my room key and walk over to the Comfort Inn/Suites across the parking lot (about 175 yards) and use it there. Not very convenient (especially in NW Ohio in January) and misleading from the internet site.
In general, the room and the hotel just did not seem clean or even on the same standard as other Holiday Inn properties I have stayed at.
I voiced my concern to management and they were very apologetic. They had my room recleaned and took care of the lamp. I got the distinct impression that this hotel had cut-back on cleaning personnel.
I did eat breakfast in the restaurant (using Priority Club free breakfast coupon given upon arrival). Breakfast was good. Looking at the menu for dinner - prices seemed high so I avoided the restaurant for dinner.
I was really hoping this property would have been much better. In fact, I specifically chose to stay here based on the pictures and reputation of Holiday Inn.
