“Bargain, well worth a stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

We paid £58 to stay here and it was a real bargain, rooms are very nicely done (ours could do with a comfy chair) and Rugby town centre is just a 5min walk away and not much further to the train station.
Not able to comment on the restaurant as it was closed on the Sunday evening when we stayed but it did look very good and worth a visit even if you're not staying at the hotel.
Service was really good and I received a call to let me know I'd left my mobile charger, def recommend this place if staying in Rugby.

Room Tip: We stayed in the chalets so you could park your car right outside.

“A Revelation”

This hotel blew me away. I was expecting a travelodge basic as had to come for work and was looking for a cheap option. From the moment I arrived the service level, character of the building and quality of the meals exceeded all my expectations.
The Owner Manager has created a service professionalism amongst his staff that any Hotel would envy. On a nice enough street, just near the train station and about to become my regular stopover when I am here for work. Very impressed. Oh and did I mention Travelodge prices!

“An absolute gem of a restaurant at the Carlton Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

Booked for a pre-christmas family get together sunday lunch for family travelling from Hertfordshire and Herefordshire as Rugby roughly half way. The food was excellent, the vegetables deserve a special mention. There was a very good choice on the menu to suit all tastes, as a veggie I felt the menu choices for me were well thought out and enticing. The sweet trolley had eyes popping out, one of the party opted for the cheese and biscuits, this too was fantastic with great presentation. The service was very good and friendly.
All this for £12.95 for 3 courses, if only I lived closer and could go regularly. Never mind I am going again in another couple of weeks for another pre-christmas get together with other family members from distant parts - can't wait.

“Comfortable and personable”

My wife and I stayed at this hotel in mid-November '11. Our 2-night stay was very comfortable and our lunch in the restaurant was very good but, unfortunately, we were not able to have an evening meal there. I'm sure it would have been very good!

We would happily return to this cosy establishment.

“Fantastic Restaurant”

We spent the day in Rugby and had lunch at The Carlton. The atmosphere was relaxing within the dining room. Service was brilliant and helpful with the waitress suggesting various dishes and explaining what was in each. My friend had the Beef Bourginon and I had the Fish of the Day - both were superb! When I explained that I didn't eat any dairy, fresh butter-free vegetables were provided within minutes. And my warm bakewell tart was divine! Really good value at £7.95 for 2 courses.
Worth going back to Rugby purely for this place!
