“You feel as if you're staying in someone's house”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

Whilst Ros was a lovely and welcoming host there was no getting away from the fact you are lodging in a room in someone's house. For example, in the double room the hosts' double wardrobes are locked although there is a small wardrobe for guests to use.

The homemade cookies were delicious but I was unable to have a cup of coffee as the kettle was mouldy. The breakfast was to be ordered the night before and Ros didn't mind that my husband was unable to finish his.

The shared bathroom at the far end of the hall was quite odd and did remind you you were in someone else's house - toothbrushes, shampoo etc. I get up in the night to go to the loo and it did make me feel uncomfortable. If I'd realised this wasn't ensuite we wouldn't have booked this room.

£80 for this B&B in Farnham is almost the same as the Mercure hotel in the centre (£89 excluding breakfast) This makes me think Dove House is not that good value for money.

“Fab value and friendly, great for a stopover or short stay.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

Whilst it seemed they were in the process of having some work down outside the house is very quiet and welcoming. I chose not to but I was offered a lift from the train station and found it easily on foot.

I was welcomed on arrival and shown to my single room which was comfy enough for me to chill out in and watch tv for the evening. I think the owner is a therapist and offers some treatments which maybe I will try if I need to stay again.

Breakfast was hearty and freshly cooked...could smell it whilst getting dressed which was nice. By the time I'd had some fruit and cereal though I couldn't finish all of what I ordered but at least I wasn't hungry afterwards! Save some room if you order hot breakfast.

Great price for what it was and next time I'm seconded to Farnham I'd happily book again.

“warm welcome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 April 2011

i stayed here for one night whilst on a course at squires kitchen. Ros the host is absolutely lovely, she was kind enough to collect me which was really appreciated as i had a heavy case and poor sense of direction. The room was lovely with soft modern colours and nice bedlinen. This is a traditiotnal b&b in the sense that its a room in someones home with no en suite but it was immaculately presented and had a decent tv, comfy bed, tea and coffee facilities. The bathroom had a shower and a jacuzzi bath (which was fun!) and fact that it was shared was the only drawback. The location seems far froim the town centre but once you get your bearings its only a 15 minute walk to town. Breakfast was well presented but nothing memorable but if i returned to farnham for any reason i would definitely stay at Dove house again.

“Fabulous place to stay”

I returned to Dove House nearly two years after my first visit in December 2008. Dove House is simply fantastic. The rooms are really comfortable, very stylish, beautifully clean, relaxing and cosy. Ros is the best host, and makes the most superb breakfast with a vast choice of fruit, cereals, breads and a wonderful full cooked breakfast - simply fabulouse food. Dove House is situated in a great area with lovely views. Prices are very reasonable - its just the best place to stay.

“dirty and dusty- but fantastic food!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2010

Bedroom Ok but small and cramped. Lots of space taken up by the owners locked wardrobes that were not to be used.
Bathroom at the end of the passage- containing a step up and a broken landing light. When we told the owner she said- oh no that one doesn't work!
Breakfast and home made cookies and fresh milk for tea ( on request ) were fantastic BUT........................................................
All very dusty, lots of thick cobwebs that looked as if they had been there for months. Urine on the top of the toilet seat there when we arrived and still there two days later. Bath grubby complete with dust, hairs and a few spiders.
