Welcome to the twilight zone!
On arrival at 7 PM I was told that my booking, made the day before over the telephone, was not on the system. The receptionist, who gave her name as Mrs. Khan didn't seem to care. After a while, she said a room would become available at 8 PM and staff were available to make it up. Okay, a small inconvenience. By 7:30 PM the ground began to shift; the receptionist declared that maybe the room would not be available at eight and perhaps they didn't have a member of staff to make up the room! Again, the receptionist seemed completely unmoved by the situation, her attitude was very arrogant. There were no other hotel rooms available in the Croydon area. I then made the unforgivable mistake of pointing out the receptionist, this was apparently too much for her to bear and she declared but I was definitely not getting the room now!
I am a lawyer and the incident was observed by a plain-clothes police officer and what I report is truthful. I should also add for completeness sake, the receptionist's eyes were glazed and has speech at times was slurred. She showed a complete lack of consideration and her indifference was stunning. Not the type of thing you would want to face after a long day. I ended up spending the night in central London.
You have been warned. Go to this place at your peril.
