“Fabulous & faultless (again)!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

Having stayed with Barry & Sue in October 2010, my friend and I (together with our ponies) knew what to expect at Middle Upcott and yet again, felt wonderfully at home from the 'get-go' - another fabulous, faultless stay. I can't say anything that I (or others) haven't already said apart from the fact that a second visit makes it even harder to leave (in fact, one of the ponies clearly didn't want to come home & made a bolt for the paddock as we were about to load him. Little did he know that we felt the same!). Although we rode out locally this time (rather than going up on the Moor in the mist & drizzle), the quiet country lanes, leafy tracks & wonderful views around Middle Upcott made for a very relaxing time. Everything about our stay was great & provided much appreciated 'time out' in our busy lives - uninterrupted evenings in front of the woodburner (following great food/wine at The Bridge in Dulverton); a relaxing soak in the luxuious roll-top bath; perfect surroundings; welcoming & fun hosts; & as for the perfectly cooked breakfast.....well, absolute heaven! Thanks both - we can't wait to visit again.

My best friend and I stayed with Barry & Sue at Middle Upcott Farm for 5 days in September and it was truly perfect - we honeslty couldn't fault anything - the warm welcome on arrival, the luxuriously comfy beds, the beautiful farmhouse, the adorable cocker spaniel puppies and the peace and tranquility were everything and more than we were expecting. Thank you so much for giving a week to remember and I've already recommended you to several friends. Can't wait to see you all again soon and hopefully Fern will have had another litter by then!

“What an amazing place to stay!”

Well, where do I start. My friend and I holiday each year with our horses and chose this farm to stay for a week. From our arrival Barry held our horses, helped unload the van, made us a cup of tea and was generally brilliant! After we had met all the adorable dogs and been shown to our room and delightful lounge/breakfast room (complete with comfy sofas and log fire), he set us up for our first ride in the beautiful countryside. Our entire stay was relaxed, 5* accomodation both for the facilities for us and horses. The farm is beautifully decorated, a real country cottage retreat. We barely saw a car on the lane outside the farm and yet were only a ten minute drive from the delightful village of Dulverton. Barry and Sue were the perfect hosts and made us feel like family. Their knowledge of the area was second to none and the rides they guided us towards were fantastic. We really didn't want to leave and can't wait to go back. It was a slice of Exmoor heaven!

“Delightful hosts, gorgeous home, in a super location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011

Sue & Barry treated us like old friends from the moment we arrived, indeed we all relaxed, chatted and drank tea in their lovely farmhouse kitchen for ages. They gave us lots of helpful advice on the area and could not have been more accommodating!

We booked at incredibly short notice (that day) and could stay for only one night, but wished we could stay longer.
The four poster room was a delight, as was their beautiful home. Fresh fruit & full english was excellent and Barry even produced home made bread for us - what a treat!

Really didn't want to leave and will go back again ..... again ..... and again!

“A B&B with the Wow Factor”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 June 2011

We arrived at Sue & Barry's B&B in awful weather but luckily when we returned a week later, at the end of our trip to Cornwall, the weather was gorgeous and very hot so we did get to see Upcott Farm in all its outdoor glory and there was a lot of it. The garden looked very inviting - pretty flowers everywhere - chairs and tables to sit out and a hammock which looked very relaxing!! At the back of the house the view is fantastic - greenery as far as the eye can see - wow!

When we arrived, the dogs gave us a lovely welcome, as well as Sue, who met us at the door with the offer of a cup of tea - but as we had had a very long day we decided we needed to crash in our room.

The farmhouse itself is pure country... lots of lovely knick knacks to admire, wood-burning stove with lovely comfy settees and a rocking chair in the lounge area (which was purely for those staying in the B&B). Lots of information on Exmoor to read about if, like us, you had never visited the area before which we found really useful.

Our room was lovely, we had a very comfortable 4-poster bed which was hard to leave in the mornings. We had a small but well formed en-suite shower room.

Our breakfasts were very tasty and set us up for the day. On the second visit, we had decided to go for something a little more healthy so we started off with a fresh fruit salad (this is not something we would normally choose but it looked so tasty and it was - kiwi fruit, strawberries, blueberries, grapefruit) and then Sue 'persuaded' us to have the full English and we were both glad because it was delicious especially with her homemade bread prepared for us that morning.

All-in-all, we found Upcott Farm very relaxing, peaceful and full of personality!

We visited Dulverton which was a very quaint Devonshire village and stopped for something to eat at Town Mills Tearoom where we had the tastest Ploughmans (you have to eat it to know what I mean, and you would not be disappointed), the price was very reasonable as well. Then went to the Bridge Inn which is right on the river for a drink and watched the ducks go by!
