“Warm, friendly welcome, pleasant stay”

We stayed at Glena's and Andrew's B&B The Bryn Barn. We had a room with an en-suite bathroom and our daughter had her own little bedroom upstairs, which she really loved. The room(s) were very nice and clean. We even had a patio in the garden where we could sit. On our arrival we received a warm welcome with a nice cup of tea in the garden. Every morning we had a a very good breakfast, You could choose what ever you liked. A place to remember and to go back to.

“Good Location”

Excellent location to visit the East Midlands. The room was clean and light and the bed very comfortable. The room had en-suite bath. There is also a garden room with its own bathroom that looks onto Glena and Andrew's lovely cottage garden. For breakfast there was a choice of cereals and fruit and the 'Full English' was very good. There was ample parking space at the side of the B&B and it has disabled access.

“Excellent family accommodation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2006

This is an excellent place to stay, especially, we found, if you have a toddler with you. The family room is very comfortable and the bed provided for our 2 year old was perfect. We were made to feel extremely welcome. Breakfast was great and a nice relaxed place to enjoy breakfast with our son. Waltham on the Wolds is pretty too. The two pubs (both with real ales) serve good food. One extra unexpected bonus is that opposite Bryn Barn is a really good deli -ideal for stocking up on the regions famous pork pies and other goodies for taking home.

“B & B Accommodation close to Melton Mowbray”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 May 2006

We spent 3 weeks driving around England in April 2006, staying at Bed & Breakfasts identified initially through “The Little Green Book” (see ---), followed by various websites. We aimed for about £25 - £30 per night, with ensuite. By and large, they were all fine, though some were really good, and for these I have provided comments in Trip Adviser (Leicestershire [Waltham on the Wolds], Yorkshire [Kirby Hill], the Lakes District [Coniston], the Peak District [Litton], Cornwall [Looe], and Rye/Battle.

Also by and large, the bathrooms were small by Australian standards (except where noted), but were not uncomfortably small or by any means unworkable. All had plenty of hot water; some had better water pressure than others.

Breakfasts were uniformly good, with cereals, fruit, yoghurt, a full cooked breakfast, toast, tea, coffee, etc. Often, there was a choice (eg, scrambled eggs & toast rather than full English). All had off-street parking.

The above applied to Bryn Barn too.

We stayed at Bryn Barn on our first night in England. Having landed at Heathrow on a direct flight from Australia and then driving and sightseeing for the day, the welcoming tea/coffee from Glena was a blessing.

Our room was nice, relatively new and quite roomy. We had our own bathroom (not an ensuite but right outside the bedroom door – very private). Waltham on the Wolds is a pretty village, and we had a nice stroll around it after a good breakfast, before leaving.

We’d stay here again.
