“Happy to return”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2012 NEW

Just had our third visit to Wolfen Mill. Still a wonderful place to stay. Peaceful country setting with lovely walks from your door. Facilities are top rate and do live up to the internet description. A great location for exploring both Lancashire and Yorkshire.

“Paradise in Lancashire!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 April 2012

My husband and I booked Wolfen Mill as a last minute much needed break. The location, the cottage (we stayed in Courtyard Cottage), grounds, gardens, facilities, furnishings, finish and attention to detail are outstanding. Wolfen Mill more than deserves all the accreditations it has received and its ETB Five Stars. The setting is beautiful and we loved the peacefulness of the place managing to "switch off" from the moment we walked through the door as we felt instantly comfortable and relaxed. Best of all it was an hour's drive from home. If we'd have known Paradise was close to home we'd have been many times before! We will certainly be going again and all I can say is if you feel the need to step of Life's Treadmill for a few days this is the place to go.

“Escape from it all at Wolfen Mill Cottages”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 March 2012

Stayed the weekend and will be returning. These self catering cottages are in a beautiful location about a mile from Chipping village. We found plenty of lovely walks with picturesque views in every direction. The accommodation was top notch, tastefully decorated and very well equipped. The owners Michael and Marie were very friendly and gave us lots of ideas of what to see and do. Lack of mobile phone signal didn't bother me as we had wifi and a payphone. If you don't fancy cooking a short stroll will take you to the Sun Inn which has an extensive menu and serves hearty portions of tasty food. Remember to take the torch from your accommodation as there are not many street lights on the way back from the pub :)
Highly Recommended

“FABULOUS RETREAT”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 March 2012

Stayed for a special weekend with my husband in the bluebell studio. The fire was on to welcome us on a chilly afternoon - lovely! Room was just as the photo, sumptuous and very comfortable. Staff were very helpful with everything. There is no mobile signal(yippee) but there was a pay phone in our room and free phone to the owners and reception if needed. There is also free wifi (bonus) so if you needed to keep I touch you unfortunately had no excuse !!! The village, which had a couple of lovely pubs was a walkable 1 mile - well worth it. : ) overall very happy customers 5* ++

“Great cottages in a great location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2011

My wife and I were looking for a last minute, escape from it all, break and decided to look at cottages within a 2hrs drive from our home in Staffordshire. There's so many to choose from but Wolfen Mill stood amongst them as being a little luxury in the country. What sealed it was my conversation with the owner who was incredibly helpful - and just as pleasant when we met him.
Wolfen Mill Cottages are tucked away in Chipping in the Forest of Bowland. Access from the M6 (Jcn 31 about 40 minutes) was great, passing through Longridge - complete with Sainsbury's, butchers and farm shops (helpful) - to get to our cottage.
Everyone's idea of luxury is different but our cottage did offer luxury, ranging from the decoration of the cottage, thick bathrobes to the plates and cutlery - it felt a great place to stay and it was. The cottage was extremely clean and well cared for - Michael and Marie clearly take great care and pride in their business.
We took our Border Terrier with us and there were plenty of places to exercise him. The Forest of Bowland is an area of outstanding natural beauty and there are plenty of walks within easy reach of the cottages, all kindly mapped out in our handbook, complete with laminated walk guides.
The weather was not great for our stay but it hasn't put us off staying again, both in the FoB and at Wolfen Mill so we will be back again soon - more than likely with friends in tow this time.
