We visited here over half term, camping locally, and were amazed at how it was still comparatively quiet even though there were lots of visitors. There's lots to see and do here for all the family. We kicked off with the 2km well signposted walk around the Pinetum and our 5yr old was fascinated by all the different pines, and the shapes of them. It's a beautiful scenic walk around the site with lots of variety, lakes, ducks, flowers etc. There's good access for wheelchairs, pushchairs and cycles with lots of specific cycle paths and a dirt bike area.
We ended up in the play area (which may have been bigger than we saw but the 5yr old was getting a bit shattered by then due to a late night and early morning!) which has a pirate ship, fort and a boardwalk. Lots of sand to play in with various things to climb and slide down. It's based near the Go Ape rope attraction catering for the older age groups (which seems quite expensive but lots of fun!).
The visitor centre is by another lake and is a welcome rest stop. Overall this can take as long as you like. We spent about 3hrs there but you could spend a lot longer. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would definately go there again.
