“Fantastic value!”

I got this room in their 'sale' for just £12 but, in all honesty, I'd have been happy paying at least twice that. The receptionist could not have been more helpful, the reception area itself was small but welcoming and the room (opened with a good old metal key - loved it) was very good. Bit of traffic noise but it's right on the Thanet Way, so I had expected it and got used to it immediately. The bathroom was spotless, as was the room and the linens. The mattress was too soft for my own taste but for a hotel bed it was fine and I slept well. The adjacent Little Chef was very handy, as was the BP petrol station, both within seconds of the hotel. If you need a break on your way to or from the coast, then you could do a whole lot worse than stopping here for the night.

Room Tip: I stayed in room 5, at the end of the corridor, which faces onto the car park and Thanet Way, but ev...

“Good standard of cleanliness”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

We only paid £25 and believe that you 'get what you pay for' but it was perfect. We had everything we needed for a basic standard room. It was clean, the mattress was great, we slept well and it was very quiet. We were ecstatically happy with the pillows, the room was warm and the bath was hot. We asked for a quiet room away from the main road on booking and bought dinner and breakfast in Whitstable prior to arriving at the hotel as we knew it was in the middle of nowhere and we didn't want to get junk food from Little Chef or have pricey calorific foods from a curry house. It pays to be organised and plan accordingly, instead of moaning.

The staff were friendly and helpful from the time we booked to the time we left.

I recommend taking a taxi to the hotel from Whitstable which is about £8 one way (£4 per person if in a couple) as there are no buses at weekends to the hotel. I wouldn't recommend walking there with a suitcase as it is dark. Even for cyclists it is a little dark and dangerous.

I was pleased to see a label on the bathroom saying that you 'had to be careful if you're standing in a slippery bath, because you may fall'. I expect guests if they are drunk would try and blame the hotel falling in the bath... at least the hotel has 'covered their back' from these types of people demanding refunds on discounted tickets.

I was shocked that televisions had to be screwed on as they were being nicked. How low can some 'guests' get? Even with CCTV! Was disgusted at some guests' disgraceful behaviour. I hope these 'guests' get caught and sweep the streets of Margate in 'orrible sleety weather in 100mph wind. I think the hotel should mark all their property with free UV pens which can they could get free from the Council. This will help stop some 'guests' having an 'early Christmas Present'.

I would definitely stay again if I go back to Whitstable!

Room Tip: take a taxi if you have no car. It is about 25 mins journey. Buy breakfast and dinner prior to arriv...

“Would have been an "excellent" but for the mattress!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

Very friendly, helpful staff, high standard of cleanliness in room and bathroom, good amount of tea and coffee sachets in room and happy to supply more when we had used them all! plenty of free parking with garage next door to get any essential supplies you may need. if you have a lot of gadgets you want to charge/get power for it's probably worth taking a 4 socket extension lead. only reason we haven't given an excellent rating is that the mattress wasn't comfortable - needs replacing. stayed for two nights and had been able to book far enough in advance that we only paid £19 per night, so extremely good value for money.

“Nothing There”

Very old Travelodge.Rooms dated. The biggest problem was arriving at 8pm to find only the petrol station open. The Little Chef next door was shut. The Little Chef on the opposite carriage way had closed down & become a Curry House. We took our lives in our hands & ran across the carriageway so we could eat.Whilst the the staff at the "Chilli" restaurant very friendly, the place had no customers & the food wasn't very good.Other places to stay near by.
