Had a lovely stay, room clean, comfy, warm and had everything we needed (only comment is that a bigger/more powerful shower head would have been good) Ideal for dog owners as lovely walk behind pub and enclosed pub garden. Food in evening and breakfast excellent, welcome warm and genuine. Very good value.We will be back.

What a lovely, friendly place to stay! Clean, spacious rooms with the mod cons that you need and the pub has an interesting history as well. The food was excellent, the breakfast offering variations on the egg and bacon theme to suit everyone, whilst the lunch and dinner menu offered some lovely, different choices, all cooked to perfection. Service was quick and all staff really friendly and we had dogs in our party who were also treated as welcome guests. We are looking forward to another visit quite soon!

I decided to take the family out for meal to the New forest last weekend. All was well,we ordered our drinks and meals and sat and waited for the food. My daughter in law wanted to use the facilities and had to pass through a narrow part of the bar to get to them. The five or six locals made no effort to let her through and the same thing on her way back. The food was ok but my one grip is that I ordered a rib eye steak at a cost of £14-50 and when I got it all there was on the plate was a smallish steak and chips .half the plate was salad,no peas, no mushrooms. So if there is a next time which I doubt I'll ask the weight of the steak and what comes with it.

Stayed, again, at the Turfcutters for a 3 day break in October. As usual the room was comfortable, the staff friendly and the food lovely, Simon and Jed always make the guests feel part of the family. The Turfcutters is a characterful pub in a peaceful setting within easy reach of lots of New Forest visitor places and good walking opportunities. Ponies visiting in the morning are a delight. We will definitely be back for another visit in 2012, hopefully in the Spring.
