Like my title states this hotel really has little wrong with it and if u pay one of the cheaper rates, £29 for the night, ure getting a good deal. Go through all the positives about this location and has to say its ideal for Anyone. Me and the misus just wanted somewhere to stay new years eve as a treat seeing as werent hitting the town n didnt care where. We come from basingstoke but even though it was a 10min drive up the motorway its worth for the best rate going.
Location - Fantastic for anyone, whether ure passing through or genuinely looking for a night away. The hotel is some distance of the motorway so u arent kept awake or nething. We had the window open and cud hear the odd passing of cars ever so slightly but we had the window open too, not enough to disrupt any sleep at all. Also, you on a 'services' so there are small range of shops and places to eat like burger king or maccy d breakfast if u cross the bridge!
Hotel Staff- One lady, foriegn accent, welcomed us and she was more than polite and talktaive. Coudlnt complain
The Room - Like many travel lodges and premier Inn. I do admit that the holiday Inn is a tad outdated compared with the other lodges. Only really in the bath/shower department, the shower is fixed so if ure tall like me, or even bigger than slim the show is quite low and only so many inches away from the wall. So not ideal but a shower is a showe. Room came with plasma tv, usual kettle n coffee/tea/chocolate, double bed and a pullout sofa. It was quite spacious and couldnt ask more. Even if u werent getting a special rate, in my eyes if i paid £50 i would of said that was about right.
Breakfast - I didnt sign up for the breakfast and tell ya the truth im kinda glad. In the morning as we walked down the breakfast is in the reception and from what i could see offered nothing more than croissants and a bit of cheese n ham. considering u pay a fiver, better off nipping over to the services and get some decent grub for similar price (the manager always wished us a good morning as we left and said hoped we enjoyed our stay with a smile) a little thing, but goes along way
Negatives
The shower as already explained
WIFI!!!! more places tend to offer free WIFI which i think in todays world is becoming an essential as much as the kettle. When we found out we had to pay we were disappointed but fair enough, however, they charge £10 for a 24hr internet time. Im sorry but this is ridiculous price and its things like this that made us think they clearly make alot of their money on this. I was disappointed but nothing major
Apart from the questionable shower and the WIFI it was a very good stay and enjoyable, check out 11am always a bonus compared to 10am for many places. I would def stay again if passing through
