“Neat and clean place”

I have to say, after reading some of the reviews on here, I was somewhat of a reluctant skeptic. After arriving, I was quite pleasantly surprised.

I'm not sure whether the hotel has changed hands recently, or if management has changed or what not, but the room that I stayed in was absolutely clean. The bathroom was spotless, and you could definitely sleep well in the bed.

The service is excellent here. When I arrived, my flight was late as late and I was exhausted. My bags were carried up and to my room for me, and the front desk service was speedy, efficient and friendly. I had required internet access, and this was waiting for me. Incidentally, the internet is cable, but fast and reliable here and included in the room price.

The staff have been very friendly to me, and more than willing to answer 1000 questions that a foreigner needs to ask when they arrive in London.

The area is working blue collar, with a few restaurants and take aways near by. It is a relatively safe area where you'd have to be out looking for trouble rather than trouble finding you.

If you want a medium to large sized bathroom, this is not the place for you. My wife would have no place to put her cosmetics and other grooming products, but for me, it's a bathroom that has a shower, with a toilet and a sink.

The bedroom fits the double bed, a wardrobe and a set of 3 drawers, with a 32 inch plasma screen that is wall mounted. There is heating in the room that works well.

I certainly don't think it's the Shangri La or the Ritz from a flat out room perspective, but for 40 pounds/night, it's a neat clean place to stay with a level of service that I think even rivals some large and more expensive hotel chains.

As to the breakfast, it's bacon, eggs, toast and baked beans with cereal and orange juice. I've had much worse in much more ritzy places. The coffee and tea are instant/tea bag respectively, so just pop into a coffee shop if you want something a bit nicer.

Overall, I think it's fantastic value in London if you want a place to clean up and sleep at night and spend the difference to the nice hotel room on doing things in London instead.

This is a very good hotel and it is one of the cheapest accommodation in east London. We stayed here for about a week and the stay was worthy for 45 pounds. The rooms are nice and tidy with plasma television, fridge, wardrobe and table on it. The room was ensuite and service was excellent. It was just opposite to the barking station. The price includes the breakfast which is a full English breakfast with egg, beans, beckoned, toast, tea, coffee, Orange juice and cereals. The room was one of the nicest I have seen on the London.

“Firstly I have to say don't bother! This...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2010

Firstly I have to say don't bother! This is more of a hostel than a hotel! I stayed there for a week while working in the area, the room was filthy when I got there and during my stay it wasn't cleaned once! I wouldn't expect a dog to have stayed there. There was constant noise from outside all through the night as the window is right by a delivery yard, and when the noise wasn't coming from outside then there was all the banging inside with people slamming doors and shouting. It is basically a half way house for people who have just left prison or the homeless. After the state of the rooms needless to say I didn't eat breakfast. I would never stay here ever again.

“Avoid this place like the plauge”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2010

This place is also used to house prisioners released and homeless and vunerable people from the local area, the food is crap egg beans and soggy toast, tea is like hot milk and you get sugar in it wether you like it or not, the staff are are horrible and hapless, the underneath the beds are filthy and thick dust, Theres no parking faciltes and the internet they advertise dont work. my advice is dont even think about staying in this place its hell, and you have to be in at 12 midnight or you dont get in in, so no booking for an after party sleepover.
Had to stay in this [--] hole for 4 weeks and hated every minite of it
