I stayed at the Sherwood for one night in January and wanted a warm, clean single room for less than £40. That's exactly what I got, and even though the room was a little cramped it was all that I hoped for. There was even a sea view. The bathroom was almost opposite the room and was large, clean and well-appointed. Breakfast was very good and I was able to get going by 07.50 by arranging for the meal to be served straight way.
There is parking outside, and if this is full (quite likely) there is more on the sea front, just across a small park. The landlady was really friendly and welcoming, and the appearance of the place is clean and tidy. I must admit that for the price I was expecting a slightly down-at-heel, scruffy sort of B&B and I'm pleased to report that this is definitely NOT the case at all. I'll be happy to return.
In the evening I walked into Hastings, which is probably a mile or so away along a level and pleasant promenade. There are, however, a couple of (rather indifferent-looking) pubs near the B&B, as well as a restaurant or two and takeaways (including a chip shop); so you don't need to starve if you can't face the walk.
