“Great choice for a single”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

I stayed at the Sherwood for one night in January and wanted a warm, clean single room for less than £40. That's exactly what I got, and even though the room was a little cramped it was all that I hoped for. There was even a sea view. The bathroom was almost opposite the room and was large, clean and well-appointed. Breakfast was very good and I was able to get going by 07.50 by arranging for the meal to be served straight way.
There is parking outside, and if this is full (quite likely) there is more on the sea front, just across a small park. The landlady was really friendly and welcoming, and the appearance of the place is clean and tidy. I must admit that for the price I was expecting a slightly down-at-heel, scruffy sort of B&B and I'm pleased to report that this is definitely NOT the case at all. I'll be happy to return.
In the evening I walked into Hastings, which is probably a mile or so away along a level and pleasant promenade. There are, however, a couple of (rather indifferent-looking) pubs near the B&B, as well as a restaurant or two and takeaways (including a chip shop); so you don't need to starve if you can't face the walk.

“St Leonard's little secret”

We had a very friendly welcome from Jeanette and Jim. They were helpful with directions to places and nothing was too much trouble. They accommodated us with our preferred choice of full English breakfast, slightly different from the printed menu, and it was very nice. Jim's fried bread is the best I've had in a long time.
The room was comfortable and very clean, the only downside was that the walls were somewhat thin and we could hear the next doors occupant when they came in. Other than that, we had a great stay overnight and would recommend this guest house to others.

Room Tip: Room 6 looks out over the sea and picturesque gardens. It also has a very large shower.

“Lovely Place To Stay”

Jeanette is a lovely hostess and very welcoming and friendly. Full English Breakfasts were excellent. Room was lovely, clean, tidy and very comfortable, so too was the bed. (Our room had a lovely sea view too so at £65.00 per night including breakfast for 2, this was very good value for money). The only negative was that the pipes connecting to the toilet, sinks and shower, were very noisy when you flushed the cistern or ran the taps. Overall though, we would highly recommend this place and we will definitely stay there again the next time we are in that area.

“Great stay at Sherwood Guest House in Hastings”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2011

We stayed at Sherwood Guest House in Hastings only for one nigt, but it was excellent. End of July we were passing through Hastings on the way to Cornwall. So we did not book an accommodation before. By searching for a 'Bed & Breakfast' we came across the Sherwood Guest House.

It is a little bit out-of-town, but that was no problem because the center of Hastings was accessible on foot. When we stepped in first we were met with a warm reception from Jeanette. We’ve got a very quiet and clean family room which was nicely done up. Pricing was normaly, parking was allowed in front of the Guesthouse on roadside.

Next morning we started with a very delicious and hearty breakfast so that we could continue our journey without extra provisions. Thanks to Jim.

During that short stay we decided to come back to Sherwood Guest House if we spend our holidays in England again, but than for an extended period because we felt very well. Thank you much for the pleasant stay,

“Clean and Comfortable.”

The Sherwood Guest House is nicely situated overlooking a green and the sea. It is clean and comfortable and the owners helpful and welcoming as other reviewers have mentioned. There is parking nearby and a friendly pub (The Bo-Peep) and Chinese restaurant nearby to get an evening meal. Our room was on the top floor - we were fine with stairs but if this would be a problem check which floor your room is on.
We stayed for one night and were happy with our choice. We especially enjoyed going for a walk along the seafront in the morning before leaving.
