This was clearly one of the best places we have stayed in - a fantastic room and food that was probably the most delicious we have had in a long time. We will certainly be back. In fact, it was so good, I've put a longer review on the restaurant page.

Every June visit I Southwold with a group of friends and inevitably elect Sutherland House restaurant for dinner which has to be said is always first class with good wines and service. Look forward to my next visit in June. Highly recommended.

We stayed at the Sutherland house hotel in December 2011. The service was friendly and down to earth; we were able to come and go as we pleased. We ate in the restaurant one night, the food was tasty and affordable. The location is ideal for Southwold's sights, being next to the best pubs, brewery and looking over the Adnams shop. The room was warm and comfortable, and they even offered to provide us with some DVDs to watch if we liked. You must visit this hotel!

We stayed for one night in the sumptuous Earl of Sandwich Room, which has a double ended slipper bath in the en suite! Needless to say my boyfriend and I whiled away a couple of hours quaffing fizz in the bath before heading down for dinner!

The hotel has a fish restaurant with a stunning menu, accompanied by a very impressive wine list. We had the red mullet and scallops followed by the halibut and sea bass washed down with a gorgeous gewürztraminer. We rounded off the evening with the cheese board (selection of tasty local cheeses) and port. The food was heavenly, the service excellent and the atmosphere glorious. The breakfast menu rivalled the dinner menu in terms of quality and variety and we tucked into the Suffolk cooked breakfast – scrummy!

We were made to feel incredibly welcome from the moment we arrived and would absolutely recommend this hotel to our friends and family.
