Where can you stay in a beautiful late Victorian house, and hear the distant sound of a steam train's whistle and chug, then through the trees see the train disappearing in the distance, with a faint puff of smoke? Cleat House 5 Star bed and breakfast, Sheringham, Norfolk. We had a fabulous 2 night stay there this May, in the £95 a night powder blue bedroom overlooking the lovely garden. Our room, and the house, was well equipped, with light Victorian decor and charm. The breakfast, ordered the night before, had varied excellent choices, and the dining room dresser loaded with every cereal, fruit, bread and conserve one could wish for. We were lucky to get the best table, by the window, on two sunny mornings. Our hosts, Linda and husband, made us feel very welcome. Cleat House is in a quiet road, with easy walking access to the sea-front and town. We enjoyed the walk along the clifftop by the golf course, and the charming station and steam train is a stone's throw away. There's lots to see and do in the area. We would definitely return to Sheringham, and Cleat House, a very comfortable and relaxing place to stay. Well deserving of its 5 Star rating, and much preferable to The Lifeboat Inn at Thornham where we stayed last year.
