We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the Meghalaya State Bus stand, and the busy shopping areas nearby.
We were offered a room with four beds, which suited us just fine. The bathroom was a bit cramped, but what the hell! The view outside was of the nearby buildings - you need to go out for the more spectacular views!
On the first day, we found that the toilet flush was spilling water all over the bathroom rather than into the pot. The hot water geyser had all sorts of exposed wires and kept tripping off. The geyser was attended quickly, but we had to wait a whole day for the flush to be fixed.
The initial welcome was strictly okay. We did not use room service much, other than the morning tea. There is a large restaurant attached, with quite an extensive menu, but we did not really eat anything much over there other than our first meal. The cooking is more of Bengali style, since most residents and the owners are Bengali. If you are looking for Khasi food, look elsewhere.
The hotel is located in the Police Bazar area, so there is a lot to see/shop/eat neaby. You can have Bengali/Chinese/momos/South Indian food, all available in the vicinity. We tried out two Chinese restaurants and a great egg roll shop near the town square. The other great advantage is that it is just a few minutes' walk from the bus stand - buses for Shillong sightseeing, Cherrapunji, Guwahati and Guwahati airport are available. The hotel can arrange taxis for sightseeing too.
I would suggest a nice, sound-proof room for the waiters/room service boys to sit in when they are free - they create such a ruckus in the corridor, it disturbs all the residents on the ground floor!
