“Good for budget travelers”

My partner and I stayed here during a weekend convention we attended. For travelers on a budget, this place is a good choice. The room was just fine, no complaints whatsoever. There was a brand new microwave and refrigerator in the room, which was nice. The bathroom has some mold on it, so it's probably not a good idea to stay here if you have mold allergies, but its not too bad. (I'm a clean freak, and I was able to deal with the mold in the bathroom!) The front desk staff was incredibly friendly as well! There are a lot of restaurants nearby, which is fantastic, especially when breakfast at the convention center is so expensive! (McDonalds, Tim Hortons, Subway, Arby's, ect.) There's also a CVS pharmacy half a block away for those travelers who are sometimes forgetful! The hotel looks like it may be in a seedier side of town, but we had absolutely no problems whatsoever. I felt safe the whole time (although I don't recommend leaving your door unlocked!) Overall, we were very happy with the hotel. It fit our budget and expectations perfectly. We're planning on staying here for future conventions, mostly for budget reasons.

“Rough night”

We had reservations for 4 nights, last night was our first night. When we went out to our vehicle this morning and we found it broken into, things were missing, and the glove box ransacked. (Interesting note: there was a dollar bill in the glove box but it was not taken.) We did a police report and the officer advised us that we were in a high crime area and advised us to find another hotel in a "better part of town."

Last evening our toilet was stopped up and the maintenance guy came right away to fix it. He stated that something was wrong with it but it was useable and he'd be back today to fix it. Due to the issues we had during our stay, they let us cancel the rest of our reservation and we were given a full refund. The hotel personel were very polite every time we came in contact with them.

“Still needs a lot of help!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2010

We booked the room for 2 nights, but ended up leaving after the first. Although there are a few remodeling improvements to the room over the past few years, like a new vanity and newer carpet, it still needs A LOT of help! Housekeeping was poor, and upon arrival found leftover hairs in the bathtub! Luckily was able to have a quiet evening and was able to sleep, but the mattress was less than desirable and the characters (aka. people) loitering the hotel were disturbing! If we had small children with us, I think we would have left immediately. At least we were able to help the homeless man that bummed change off of us when we first left the hotel office. :-)

“Worst. Hotel. Ever.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2010

Do not stay here. I booked this through Hotwire and was promised a nice 2 star hotel. The lobby stunk, there was a basket of filthy towels sitting by the rusty ice machine, and the room was even worse. The chain lock was missing, there was pee in the toilet, the microwave and tub were filthy. While we were in the car trying to get our money refunded, a bum approached us begging for money and a random pitbull walked by. Luckily (although not easily) hotwire gave us our money back so we could get the hell out of there. I wouldn't even give this place half a star. Our next stop was the 2 star Red Roof Inn downtown which was immaculate and very nice!

“Disgusting and Smelly”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2010

We by no means expected luxury from a 2-star hotel, just a place to sleep and put our bags, but this place barely met even those basic needs. There was a smell of mustiness and/or smoke, even in the non-smoking rooms. We actually requested a different room than our original because it smelled way too much of smoke. The second room was only slightly better. We had to go out and buy a candle to make it bearable. We didn't use the shower because it looked disgusting, with brown spots all over the place. It had an ugly, rusted microwave and a mini fridge and a very old TV in the room. Unfortunately, because of the conditions, we did not want to spend any extra time in the room. We only stayed for one night just to sleep and even for that, I would not recommend this hotel. The bed was stiff and had only two pitiful pillows that needed to be doubled up to hold up our heads. They had a window that opened, but did not have a screen. The "maid" carried her cleaning supplies around to each room in a shopping cart. Overall it was a terrible experience.
