“Would stay here again.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2010

My husband and I enjoyed our recent stay at the Red Maple Inn. The rooms are simple but very clean. If I say their "clean", it really means they are! I'm a clean nut and I'm usually very turned off by what other people consider clean. The bed was very comfortable. The staff was friendly but not bothersome. Breakfast was good. We are vegetarians so it's hard for us to stay at B&B's that don't offer vegetarian items and soy milk, but we did have a bagel and some instant oatmeal. Not exciting but food is food. A vegan, looking for non-dairy and eggless items, would have been left with a choice of fruit only. The only real downside was the "fitness room". In reality this was a window-less room, within a larger room, tucked into the basement of the building. It's anything but inviting and the elliptical machine is older than I am. As someone who works out nearly every day, it was a real disappointment. So much thought went into the rest of the facility but the fitness/wreck area is tucked into a basement that looks like something from 1970 - paneling, unfinished ceiling and all. Other than that, it was a nice experience and yes, we would stay there again.

“Red Maple Inn..Perfect!”

Red Maple Inn is perfect! My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary and could not have been more pleased. When we arrived to check in, there was homemade chocolate chip cookies out for the guests. My wife and I agreed they were some of the best cookies ever. We stayed in a corner fireplace room. The room was very spacious and well decorated. Great Amish made furniture adorns the room. The bathroom was plenty big with jacuzzi tub. King bed was very comfy, although the pillows were a little firm. Free wine and appetizers were provided in lobby from 5-6:30 that night, which I really enjoyed. Check out the massage chair in dining area, free to use and was very relaxing. We also enjoyed the pool table in basement. Breakfast was the best. I was addicted to the bacon there. It is thick and has a touch of maple flavor. This is the place to stay for a romantic and relaxing getaway! Great staff and very clean!

“magical stay. leave your troubles behind.”

My wife semi-surprised me with a 1 year anniversary gift that included a stay at The Red Maple Inn. I was always hesitant to stay at a B&B because I prefer my privacy and this place was PERFECT. In many ways it's like a hotel but still has the B&B charm without question. My wife is a clean freak and this place got 2 thumbs up in that department. But thats just the begining. From the moment we checked in it felt like we were a million miles away from home. Greeted with a smile and fresh home made cookies we then found that our room was very welcoming as well. We had a corner room (#204) and it had a fireplace, king bed, fantastic view of the coutryside, beautifuly crafted amish furniture and more. Some local travel magazines were laid out on the coffee table for reading/browsing. The desk in the corner had RMI stationary and envelopes in case you wanted to write a letter. THAT makes you feel like you're going back in time because no-one writes letters anymore. But I digress.. Also on the desk was a room log in which most everyone that had stayed in that room wrote a letter about their stay. I really enjoyed reading the letters from all the people who had stayed before us. We left a note in it as well. The whole place was CLEAN. I cant stress that enough. It was the cleanest place I have ever lodged. The staff was VERY nice. At dinner they offered wine and hor doeuvres. There was a small library with books and movies to rent, a few games and a jigsaw puzzle that was half solved. The rec. room in the basement had some cardio equipment, a pool table and a ping-pong table. My wife surprised me in that she is a pretty good ping-pong player!

Breakfast was a buffett that had warm scrambled eggs, THICK delicious bacon and an assortment of bagles, waffles, pastries, juices, breads etc.

We went to Bass Lake Inn in Chardon for dinner. (only a 20 minute ride away) Just like Red Maple Inn, Bass Lake did not disappoint. I highly recommend dining there.

We cant wait to go back to Red Maple Inn. I imgine the view would look spectacular in the winter, or the fall especially!!

“Perfect”

This hotel is perfect.
I regret, however, that there is no price reduction when staying more than 2 or 3 nights!

“Pleasant Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2008

We enjoyed our experience at The Red Maple Inn. I booked a corner room with fireplace as a surprise for my boyfriend. When we pulled up with found a very nice small hotel with country charm. It is listed as a B&B and I would say it seems to be a very private hotel rather than a "house" styled B&B. This appealed to us as we often like to feel alone together rather than visit with other guests, which is why we hesitate to go to traditional B&Bs with a shared breakfast table. Red Maple allows us the privacy we like, but also has a personal feeling.

The staff was excellent, the rooms were clean and nice. We were able to open the windows which was really a nice touch to get fresh air into the room. The fireplace gave off intense heat! The city of Burton is very charming and we were so excited to see how close the Red Maple is, walking distance to little antique stores and unique shops. A perfect place for a fall trip in Amish Country.

The only setback we found is that in comparison to other places we have stayed we found we got more for the price at other locations. Red Maple is a tad more expensive than I would prefer for what they offer. But if you're looking for a place to stay in Burton this is definately the place, you won't be disappointed! We had no other complaints about this location!

We will visit again.
