“perfect place to chill”

To call it a cottage would be like calling a Rolls Royce a car. With the very friendly help of the Visitors Info at Victor Harbour (it was shortly after 5pm when we arrived, and Joe stayed there longer to help us finding an accomondation) we came up to CE at 5:30pm and were greeted by John who stood in his „frontyard“ to await us. The „cottage“ is a spacious full equipped house, a very big bathroom with a spa (I've seen hotel rooms smaller than that bathroom), one big room with a 4poster queenbed, a kitchen, a dining table and a tv so big you think you're in a cinema. There is an additional room with a single bed, a couch and another tv, so it is fitted for travelling with a kid or somebody else. The breakfast (self prepared, but the fridge was packed for us) leaves nothing out, what you want. This is an absolutly highly recommention for that place. Only thing is, minimum two days stay, but believe me, you don't want to leave after just two days (unfortunatly we had to :( )

“The best B&B ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

We stayed at Close Encounters for 2 nights in September and it was an absolute delight. Nell and John greeted us on arrival and Nell then took us through the villa to show us how to use the TV and A/C, and where everything was. She then advised us on restaurants for dinner and where the best places to see whales were as well as leaving us some binoculars! The villa is beautiful and has absolutely everything you could possibly need for a stay from a box of toys in the carport for children to use on the lawn, to a box of Lego in the childrens' room as well as their own TV, and a patch of grass to play on outside! Our boys felt they were living in luxury as did all of us. The supplies for breakfast were the most generous I've ever seen with bacon, eggs, tomatoes, bread, lots of different cereals, fruit, strawberries, chocolates the list goes on. They also supply lots of extras that are so handy if you want to cook, like sauces, oils, alfoil, gladwrap, etc. It was an absolute pleasure being in the kitchen and not missing anything. The beds were soooo comfortable and the towels thick and large and the views beautiful. Thanks to Nell's advise we had two nights of nice Thai dinners and saw Southern Right Whales easily. I only wish all our accommodation was this good. Thanks so much Nell and John for a wonderful and easy stay.

“a great place to spend a weekend in Victor Harbor”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2011

Stefanie and I enjoyed a wonderful weekend away at this accommodation. The room was extremely comfortable and the spa was just an excellent way to end a day of walking around Victor Harbor. A lot of time and TLC was put into the surrounding area of the B&B and it most certainly pays off when you take the time to stroll and have a look.
The hosts, John and Nell went completely out of their way to make us comfortable and even gave us some lovely lemons to take home. Anytime we go back to Victor Harbor we will most definitely be staying here again.

“"Exquisite"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2011

The perfect get away, so relaxing, you are left wanting nothing. The views are fabulous and as we were there for New Years Eve we were also treated to a fabulous view of the Victor Harbor fireworks from the patio.
John & Nell are the perfect hosts, they think of everything to ensure the perfect stay. They are only too happy to share the knowledge of their other love, the protea farm with guests.
Their hospitality even extended to our day guests.
Would and have recommended this experience to our friends with no hesitation.
