This family-run motel offers a friendly welcome; nothing is too much trouble for the hard-working owners. Yes, the decor is old and tired (not to mention the ageing fridges and televisions) but the rooms were spotlessly clean. Some have glimpses of the Murray, and from the restaurant you can see the ferries criss-crossing the river.
The motel is at one end of the little town, with its attractive facades along a street parallel to the Murray.
The food in the restaurant was reasonably priced and varied; we were with a tour group but saw the main menu. Vegetarian food was thoughtfully and tastefully cooked specially for us. Breakfast buffet-style was substantial (with some of the best field mushrooms we saw in South Australia), and the in-room breakfast menu had some unusual combinations to offer variety to travellers.
We would have no hesitation in detouring to stay there again when we travel that part of the world.
