Mannum Motel 76 Cliff Street, Mannum
Mannum, about an hour from Adelaide, is a great town for seeing the Murray River. The town is a center houseboat rentals. The local Tourist office houses a small museum and the helpful staff can direct you to local sights and make arrangements for tours. We enjoyed a 1 1/2 hour river cruise, including afternoon tea, with Jester Cruises.
The Mannum Motel is located at the edge of town across from the free cross-river car ferry dock, near the Tourist Office and within walking distance of the entire town. It is part of the Golden Chain of motels for which we had obtained a 10% discount card when we stayed at another of their motels. We had a large room overlooking the Murray River for A$110 per night. Place is clean but somewhat worn. Our queen bedded room had A/C, TV, tea/coffee making facilities, miniBar, table and chairs, and sofa. Bathroom was adequate and had a hair dryer. Rooms without river view are somewhat less. Owners were very helpful. There is a pool, which was not in service when we were there. Laundry, including soap powder, is free.
