“A wonderful place to rest”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

I have stayed in Mossman Gorge Bed and Breakfast for 2 nights. I was very sorry that I couldn't have stayed longer. Initially I was not going to drive during my holiday, Mandy recommended me to drive up to Mossman from Cairns sending me pros and cons of having a car via e-mail. It was very kind of her. Thanks to her, I was able to see so many beautiful places in North QLD during my stay.
My flight from Sydney was late and I could not get to Mossman until after 9pm. Mandy warmly welcomed me despite being well passed usual check-in time. When I walked into the place, it was magical, so quiet and peaceful. I could only hear some faint noise of bird calls and insects. The sky was full of stars. I sat on the balcony for a while with a glass of wine to unwind. What a wonderful way to start a holiday!
Next day, I saw a completely different view from the night before. Lush green tropical garden in front of my eyes! Also, delicious breakfast was waiting for me. What a treat. I loved a chocolate pudding fruit from breakfast and Mandy kept it for me in the fridge for my treat later on.
Mandy's husband Chris has recommended me places to visit. Both Chris and Mandy have extensive knowledge of the area, not limited to places to visit but wildlife, nature, farming, road conditions, weather, etc. It is very helpful for a visitor like myself. I had a fantastic time. I will certainly be returning to Mossman Gorge Bed and Breakfast again. Chris gave me brochures of Bed & Breakfast and I will make sure to give them to my friends, family and colleagues.

“We loved it and have already recommended it to all our relatives and friends”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2011

What an awesome location and then get the 5 star treatment for being a guest, an incredible breakfast with unique bakeries each morning, great in season fruit, ecological minded, and two hosts that know everything to make your trip in the area everything it should be and you get the treatment you would expect at a a high class resort, but with a personal and intimate feel of being with family. Views of the rainforest are exceptional and couple that with the birds that visit as you eat breakfast or enjoy the guest floor with extensive library, games, and TV and you get a home away from home in a stunning setting. If you want to enjoy time with the other guests or just keep to yourself, you will enjoy this accommodations. If you are ready to treat it like your own home and not some big resort then this is the place for you. Getting in take-way or microwavable food will cut your dining bills, although there are plenty of good options within easy drive.

Room Tip: Rooms well tended and met our needs fully

“Leave time to just hang out in that neat house in the wild forest.”

Our family stayed for 2 nights at Mossman Gorge B&B while in Queensland. The house, which sits on the side of a mountain in a rainforest, is so appealing with Mandy’s interesting and comfortable touches, and our two rooms were wonderful. Actually, we had the use of 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, a vast and appealing living room, the kitchen, two decks, and a pool.

When we arrived, Mandy had just discovered that the wild resident cockatoos had stripped some palms that day and dropped them into her freshly-cleaned pool, just for the fun of it! Life in the rain forest is so interesting.

When Mandy acquainted us with the customary measures to ensure that the insects and other bigger wildlife did not enter the house at night, we were pretty interested in closing all doors to the large deck immediately and maybe checking under the bed! We felt " this place is wild." But we trusted Mandy instead and enjoyed the fresh breezes filtering through the sheers that covered all the deck doors. And not one mosquito entered the space. After Mandy turned off the outside lights much later and closed the deck doors, the bird sounds in the forest were so loud and interesting and other-worldly. I will never forget the exotic sounds of that night. We could have created white noise with the air conditioner, but it was beautiful and rich hearing the wildlife.

In the morning a magnificent feast, with so many exotic jams from fruits I had never heard of, was presented on the deck by Mandy, who then turned to feed the kookaburras that arrived on the deck rail. It was wonderful!

My only regret about Mossman Gorge B & B is that we did not allow more time to “settle in” and read from the wonderful selection of books about Australia and just hang out in that neat house in the wild forest.

The room was so comfortable & relaxing we opted not to go out for dinner! Great location. The breakfast spread was incredible, about 3X what we could eat. Friendly & considerate hosts with lots of local information & suggestions.

“Have you ever been to Eden?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 May 2011

Imagine coming to the garden of Eden- green and lush, trees and birds around and in the middle- a small house, a huge veranda overlooking the view and the friendliest family, caring, inviting, presenting the best breakfast and the best advices to tour the area.
If you're looking for an entry point to the great barrier reef or the Daintree area- this is THEE place to stay!!!
