“A dream come true”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

I have wanted to experience Silky Oaks Lodge for many years, being a local you think I would have sooner than later, however it was worth the wait. Everything was perfect, the view and sounds of the cascading river below our cabin, so calming to be able to immerse ourselves in mother natures pristine environment right outside our room. We didn't want to leave our room but had heard so much about the food, we were not disappointed as our dining experience was exquisite, well worth every cent. Breakfast was divine. We have promised ourselves to return each year. Thank you to the caring and attentitive staff for making our stay so very special.

“Fantastic place for a romantic or relaxed stylish dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

We just enjoyed a lovely dinner Silky Oaks. Great setting, great presentation of food, good quality and taste, very friendly and attending staff. Prices for mains are in the mid $30ties but it's all worthwhile. Beautiful embedded in the stunning nature of this area. Very recommendable and definitely a place to go for special occasions. Can't comment on the rest of the resort as we did not stay in this hotel.

“Outstanding, Out of Season”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2012

the rain forest in a wooden hut surrounded by nature at its rarest.  You need good nerves to cope with the extremely high humidity of the summer in these parts and also the strange noises during the night.   The hut is finished in luxurious manner with masses of cushions and pillows and large comfortable bed.   In the bathroom you have the choice of massive spa bath or shower. No TVs or wi fi in any of the rooms but there is a central entertainment room with TV and a lounge with free wifi and also stand alone computer with printer.  Lovely spa area for any treatments you would like to have.
Our stay was enhanced by the totally attentive  service we received.  This was partly due to it being low season now and guests at times being outnumbered by staff this was nonetheless appreciated.  The surroundings are beautiful and I took time out to join an organised evening ramble to learn about the flora & forna and history of the area.  I took myself off during one day on a pre-planned walk along the river to a local water hole where a well deserved swim was appreciated.  Unfortunately I did not realise that my legs were too appreciated by the local mozzie population.  However this too was not a problem as various lotions were available from the front desk.
Nothing was too much for the staff here and we were made to feel really welcome and totally relaxed.  Ok, for us, we did choose maybe the wrong time of the year being so hot and humid but that was our decision and not made with as much information beforehand as we should have noted, but there we go.
Given the situation I would not hesitate in recommending The Silky Oaks Spa Hotel to anyone and would not hesitate coming back again, soon I hope as we still have so much more to see.

“Beautiful, isolated, relaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

very isolated, nothing but you, the aroma of essential oils, relaxing music, the tree house and the bush turkeys down below. Wake up to the song of the birds of the daintree. The only place to eat is the resturant on the river. Very nice resturant but expensive. Hire a car to get to the local diners for a cheaper meal. Breakfast was free and was very nice, a variety of quality foods. Romantic atmosphere at night, candles, soft blue hymes shimmering on the lagoon pool.......NOT KID FRIENDLY!! Don't take the kids here.

Room Tip: delux tree house or near the river, the closer to the water, the better the bird watching.
