“AVOID Very old and tired motel which is amazingly difficult to find.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2010

AVOID Very old and tired motel which is very difficult to find, it's actually located in SOUTH Mission Beach. Hotel website states address is Wongaling Beach Road, Mission Beach. We drove into Mission Beach looking for Wongaling Beach Road. Had to backtrack and head south down Cassowary Drive to find it, even Google Maps are inaccurate.
We stayed there as part of a group for a function, the catering was unbelievably poor & woeful, embarrassingly bad. Don't be misled by photos on website!

“Sleepless nights”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2010

The rooms were clean but very basic and far from modern. We stayed in a family motel room with easy access to the pool. There was the convenience of a new Woolworth's right next door. The down side to the affordable rooms was that we had a few younger guests staying in rooms either side and they made quite a bit of noise all night making it quite hard to relax and get a good nights sleep especially with young children. No fault of the hotel but didn't do anything for our experience there.

Hotel staff were very friendly but no information about where to eat except for their bistro $23 a head is pretty steep for a family of 4. Would like to have suggestions in their guest book in the rooms for other places to eat at mission beach.

Would recommend 100th Monkey Cafe for breakkie as the service and food was great!! And we had a yummy pizza from Cafe Fish Bites and Pizza both a short drive to mission beach. Sunday market was nice to wonder through also.

If we stayed there again would pay the extra dollars and upgrade to a more comfortable room. You most certainly get what you pay for.

“great location,slightly outdated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2010

with the opening of woolworths retail food supermarket and the bus interchange at the "big cassowary" the center of mission beach has now moved to wongaling beach.a mini bus service now operates from the "big cassowary" interchange although it does not operate to south mission (elandra resort) after sunset.
the mission beach resort and hotel (courtesy bus available) is directly behind bus interchange A$ 135 (high season) and advertises stand by rates upon production of bus ticket.a pleasant resort only 5 minutes walk to beach,it has 4 clumps of rooms each situated around a small but tropically presented pool that is only 10 meters from your large sliding glass door.plenty of tables and chairs to enjoy a cup of tea by the pool . an evening "all you can eat"extensive buffet is available for A$23 and also breakfast.the cheaper rooms do not have a toaster
rooms are large and clean although fittings in this resort, probably built in the 80's are a little dated..bed gave a peaceful sleep..the delightful area of mission beach is easily reached from townsville or cairns by greyhound bus ($20 senior from cairns) and can be reached through the town of tully on the tilt train line.

“Beautifully laid out, very comfortable and great value.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2010

Stayed at MBR for 2nts (originally only 1 but extended out stay). The layout is great with each little 'community' of rooms having their own undercover parking, swimming pool and spa. The rooms themselves were incredibly spacious and ours had a lovely view of the pool. The all-you-can-eat Buffet meal at the Restaurant is to die for, with a great variety of foods for everyone. At only $99/night, will definitely be going back again one day.

“"Resort" in much need of TLC”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2010

I don't doubt the other reviews written but I have to say that none of this was my experience. Upon first appearance the gardens were in much need of some love and care. When we were taken to our room, it was clean and tidy but there were obvious cigarette burns and stains on the carpet. The chattels were in much need of an update or replacement. The curtain to the room was not thick and easily let the outside light glare into our room allowing for little sleep as it competed with the clunk of the fridge in keeping me awake all night. The restaurant food looked and tasted like it was a few days old and the only thing this place had going for it was that it was at the doorstep of the Whitsundays. I would highly recommend you check your room out before staying and opt for viewing other rooms that may be more comfortable in the complex.
