“country hospitality and great food”

We stayed here for 2 nights in June 2011 on our country drive holiday. The accommodation was fine with a highlight being the wonderful food served up by our hosts. We drove around much of the South Burnett wine district and comparing some of the food served up for lunch to the Captains Paddock was chalk and cheese. It's also one of the few wineries in the region that appears to be open 7 days a week (Hint make sure you check before driving an hour to find your winery is either shut or not serving lunch!).
This is a wonderful base to explore the region knowing full well that you will have a wonderful evening meal before sitting back for a evening of star gazing. Perfect remedy to slow down down and let the stress out.

“A wonderful way to relax and unwind”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2011

What a way to unwind and relax. Tranquil and refreshing. We needed a break from the rush of city life and Captains Paddock provided it. The children were free to wander and explore the vinyard while we read the papers and books. The hospitality was fantastic. The views from the properity are stunning and watching the colours change in the afternoon while we ventured out for a walk was lovely. The food and wine from the cafe was superb. Having the sun streaming over us while overlooking the vinyard was a great way to breakfast in the morning. We had a great time and found the experience unique in the most wonderful way.

“Bad Choice B&B Kingaroy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2011

We chose this B&B because of the lovely photos on the internet. Dont be fooled by them !! Truly the place is extremely dirty and in need of repair. The grounds were unkept and the patio was a not a place where you could feel comfortable to sit. There was no microwave, only a delapidated old electric frypan. We have thrown better ones out than that. On the internet it reads "well equipped private cottage" We had to actually go out and buy some kitchen items to use. There were no ceiling fans or an exhaust fan in the bathroom. Sorry but we would NOT recommend this B&B to anyone.

“A Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2008

We stayed at Captains Paddock way back in June 2007, and have to say it was brilliant. This was our first holiday since moving to Australia, and it was a brilliant experience. MaryAnne, Merlot and Zin were fantastic hosts, and we loved the 'Booie Monster' in our room. If you are looking for 5 star opulance this is not for you, but for honest, country hospitality it can't be beaten. To top off the excellent service, we received a Christmas card with a voucher to use next time.
Looking forward to a return visit, well worth going out of your way for.

  • Liked — the stove, breakfast served in the room, the views, the hosts
  • Disliked — can't think of anything!
