“Sounds of the Rain Forest”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2012

This is a clean, comfortable place in the village of Daintree. There are a couple of restaurants in the area, but not much else. The inn is near the river which has river rides and a short drive to the Daintree Reserve.

It is a beautiful setting where you hear the frogs and birds all night long.

I highly recommend it.

“Super Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2012

Stayed unexpectedly with Andrew and Trish after our expected Hotel had to close due to storm damage. What a fantastic little hideaway in a wonderfully interesting part of the world (and that was just their back yard - so much to see from the balcony and pool alone). A lovely couple, very friendly and accommodating, who produce a great breakfast (I genuinely have never seen so many different fruits on one plate before - we needed a lesson on most of them - and the taste was an exploration all of its own, superb), and the cooked breakfast was excellent too, not to mention the BBQ steaks and Barramundi. Very clean, very comfortable beds, all with air conditioning, so kept nice and cool. I would have no reservations in highly recommending Red Mill House and Andrew and Trish, they were wonderful hosts, very helpful and knowledgeable and genuinely nice people. Thank you for 3 wonderful nights stay in the Daintree Rainforest. Graham & Debs

Room Tip: We stayed in the king room, very good.

“Best B and B!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2012

We took time out from a business trip in nearby Cairns to do an impulse visit one weekend to the amazing Daintree Rainforest. B and B's can be tricky. One can feel trapped. We usually choose hotels to avoid this. But hotels are so impersonal.
Red Mill House was none of these. At Red Mill House the accommodation is independent, as in a hotel, but with absolutely none of the corporate impersonality.
Trish and Andrew were warmly welcoming. Our room (with ensuite) was charming. It was simply but beautifully furnished, and we looked out through the green of the tropical garden to the sounds of frogs and birds and creatures rustling and whistling and croaking and tweeting and hooting. Oh it was lovely!
Breakfast was a delight. Tables set up on the veranda overlooking tropical greenery, however you wanted, sociable or otherwise. Delicious bowls of fresh tropical fruits. You could also have yogurt and toast/bread and jam, all homemade, and or a cooked breakfast if that was your fancy.
Trish and Andrew have a friendly but non intrusive style and an intelligent and thoughtful approach to suggesting ideas and itineraries for our short stay. All the things they suggested for us to do were interesting and engaging. And because we were not organised, Trish or Andrew rang ahead where needed to arrange a meal or a river tour for us. Because of their hands on hands off approach we had a wonderful and unforgettable few days.

“Wonderful place for birders and non-birders alike!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

This was our second visit to Daintree after 2007 and we are happy to report that the Red Mill House is still superb. Trish and Andrew provide everything you might want up there, and they always do it with a smile. Excellent info on the surrounding area, especially the birds of the Daintree and beyond. This time, we brought a little baby and my 60+ year old parents and all three generations were very happy.

“Home from home”

It's all been said, but The Red Mill House a great place to stay because it feels so homely, no rush to get out, except there is so much to see that you do of course go out. We were there over New Years, and predictably there was no where to eat on New Years Day, although we had stocked up snacks, Dennis and Dawn shared their meal with us and some other guests, so kind. Red Mill House is very quiet, relaxing and a great place to unwind.
