We stayed one night and at the back of the resort which showed newer motel type rooms. Good size double bed and settee facing into the pool area, bathroom of a good size and at least good hot water. The bar and restaurant upstairs served very good meals in a open area or inside ,depends of the weather,overall a great stay.

After a long trip up to Cooktown, the hotel was a welcome surprise. We had expected something far less comfortable and modern; only because of the remoteness of the town. We took a 2 bedroom apartment upstairs overlooking the main street. Fantastic location and very comfortable. The restaurant was excellent, and another pleasant surprise.

The drive to Cooktown is quite a long way from the nearest big city but well worth a visit. The steady breeze here makes tempertures in North Queensland more bearable. A 2 or 3 night stay in the Cooktown is sufficient to see all the sights in the area

On arrival, we were given a warm welcome by the receptionist and check in was a very speedy process. The hotel did not appear to have many guests and it was very quiet. The room was clean and adequate. We enjoyed our cooling off time in the pool at the end of the day. As it was quiet, we had the pool to ourselves. We didn't eat at the hotel but can thoroughly recommend the Bowls Club for an evening meal.
