I have stayed here many times and have always enjoyed by stay. The owners John and Mary are very friendly and make you feel welcome. I do find that the rooms could do with a better clean as when I have moved furniture I always seem to find some rubbish underneath. The rooms are a good size with split a/c which is a necessity in this part of the world. The restaurant can get very busy so I always make sure that I order as soon as I sit down and it can take some time for your order to be taken. if given the choice get a room set back from the road as the road trains can make some noise at night. Will definitely stay here again.

This motel was more than adequate for a one night stay. The room was comfortable, the bar was convivial and the restaurant food was quite acceptable.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful.
Remember this is the outback and Cloncurry is a small town but it still has plenty of basic shops and services.
One other point to remember is that, as in other outback towns, the motel and everyone else in town uses bore water. Hence you will notice that the water has left major stains on bathroom fittings and has a strong smell. It's completely natural and one of the drawbacks of using bore water but unavoidable in such an otherwise arid region.
We found the Gidgee Inn a pleasant place to stay.

we arrived at mid night after only just making it through the floods, the gentlemen who answered the after hours bell was so friendly! when we walked into the room we were blown away the room was beautiful after traveling for a couple of days this was fantastic the bed was so comfy. the bathroom was amazing shower so big and loved that they had shappoo,conditioner and bath gel dispansers on the wall.

all and all i would recommend this place to anyone my partner and i both work in the hotel business and we thought it was great!!

The Gidgee Inn is much improved from the last time we stayed, just over a year ago...
Housekeeping is so much better, the rooms are clean, and the new flat screen Television sets are great.
I would suggest maybe some new bedspreads though, the current ones are old and sad looking and spoil the ambience of a very spacious guest room and very large bathroom.
The only place to stay in Cloncurry and very good food...
