“Like and oasis in the outback of red earth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2011

We arrived at the Chillagoe guest house, and welcomed by Eugene the host. The place its self is very well appointed, and lots of little things that hotels never offer, to make it very homely. The kitchen was 21st century modern with a wonderful breakfast, also snacks for travellers. All the rooms had friges with cold drinks. After unpacking our host provided us with icebuckets for our wine and there was also a free internet phone, to ring anywhere in the world. The service was great and the owner had put a lot of thought into equipping the place. The atmposphere was so good and very relaxing I would give this a very high rating.

“Will definitely stay here when next in the aerea.”

The freshness of the accomodation was very welcome. The internet access was an unexpected bonus and enabled me to download a new book on my Kindle.
Overall a very pleasant experience.

“Great little place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2011

The Guest House in Chillagoe is a very good place to stay. It's easy to find, has a nice owner, lovely decor which matches its historic past and comfortable, clean rooms and beds. Even though our Family Flat was spacious, the owner offered us another room for free for one of our couples, and he went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. Chillagoe has quite a few things to see and we found our 2 day stay there very interesting with caves, a mine, a waterhole, friendly locals and nice warm weather.

“The best weekend away I've had in along time!!!! ITS A MUST DO!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 July 2011

Firstly just stay at the guest house...best value for money around and right in town.
Make sure you visit the caves and also the smelters. The place has a great country feel and the pubs are safe for the family to have a meal...unlike Cairns!! Chillagoe has a river all year round and it was nice to just sit there and watch the wild life and there is alot of wild life. The guest house was perfect for us with the family. It looked freshly renovated and well maintained. We had birds..wallibys, kangaroos just off the door step first thing in the morning and breakfast is included!! If you haven't been there or went there years ago... GET OFF YOUR BUTT AND GO it's really is an OZY town!!!

“A brilliant place to rest.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 May 2011

The Post Office Guest House was welcoming, very clean and well organised. It was located in a central position across the road from the local tourism office. The locals were very friendly. We enjoyed our stay immensely and didn't want to leave!
