“Daintree Forest Fantastic”

Our hosts were very polite and helpful at all times, always interesting and friendly to speak with. The fresh fruit provided at breakfast and also during the tasting session (which you should strongly consider joining) is fabulous, you'll taste incredible fruit as fresh as it gets, learn about exotic fruit, just a fantastic experience.
We stayed for three days and it was just not long enough. The cabin is perfect in size, great bed, refreshing shower, small refrigerator a great place to stay.
The sounds in the forest at night are unreal...... falling asleep and when you wake up during the night it's just fantastic to hear the multitude of calls in living surround sound!
One day we had to leave for a very early morning tour and Digby above and beyond the call of duty, prepared a fantastic breakfast for us the night before, waiting in the ref-rig when we returned from the days events, great service.
The pictures you see of the cabins etc. are all representative of what you'll find when you arrive, nice place out in the rain forest truly excellent......
Anyway, we truly suggest you try this B&B

Room Tip: Two cabins spaced well apart, you'll not hear or see your neighbors. You may wish to bring bug r...

“One of my favourite places :)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2011

I absolutely loved staying at the Cape Trib Exotic Fruit farm!. We spent ten nights there and I would have stayed another week if it were possible! Firstly, Alison and Digby were unbelievably helpfuly and knowledgable - their breakfasts were sensational, as we sat in our treehouse in the middle of a rainforest. I just loved it, what can I say?? I loved the walks we went on (I'm a real nature lover!), the discovery centre, the gorgeous Emmagen Creek swimming hole that Alison told us about! It was a little cold for me to swim for long the day we were there (I feel the cold pretty badly) although my partner swam for a couple of hours. We are going back to the area this year so that I can swim there again :) Crystal clear water, in the middle of a rainforest. We also did Dan Irby's evening tour which I highly recommend, that was wonderful and will do that again next month when we return!

The fruit farm is very basic - but they let you know that and don't mislead you in anyway. There isn't any air conditioning, and this suited me perfectly. There is a fan if you want to use it, but we didn't need to. I loved all the creatures, the geckos, the amazing spiders and their giant webs out in the garden - wow. Insects I had never seen before too! Plus, the gorgeous sounds of the creek and the rainforest to go to sleep to, it was absolutely perfect for me and I'm missing it as I type!

My partner prefers something with a little more luxury, but for me - this is one of my favourite places. We even had the excitement of one of the biggest storms I'd ever experienced on our last night - it was incredible! The entire rainforest lit up! I think I smiled the entire trip :)

Oh and I also highly recommend Ocean Safari snorkelling, we loved that and will do that again next month!

Thanks Alison and Digby, it was an amazing beginning to 2011 for us! xx

“Gorgeous Cape Tribulation and beautiful Exotic Fruit Farm b&b”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

In order to book one of Alison and Digby's lovely cottages one pays the whole amount in advance only on line. They have two cabins which Digby built himself and which are almost identical. As they are so popular, with good reason, I decided to book early. The ventilation of the cottage was so well done that the cottage seemed to stay at a pleasant temperature all the time. The exceedingly high standard of everything was amazing considering we were in a tropical rain forest. We spent 7 weeks touring Australia and it had to be one of the best places we stayed in. We did not notice the lack of mains electricity because the solar panels work so well for the lights and hot water, although one cannot use a hair dryer. Both cottages have a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities. Even if we had had a television we would never have watched it. Nor did we feel the need to sit in front of a computer or use a mobile whilst on holiday in this fabulous tropical rainforest.

Choosing from the menu for breakfast was quite difficult as everything sounded so delicious. Digby came round in the morning to our verandah with our heavenly breakfast. Even though we stayed in some excellent b & b's in Australia, we rated Alison and Digby's breakfasts and accommodation as the best.

Alison was surprised that Katie, our daughter was happy to travel with us. Her comments were so unexpected that I forgot to mention that we were paying for her!

Thank you so much Alison and Digby for a wonderful stay.

“A True Rainforest Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

Surrounded by the rainforest and fruit farm this cute little tree house (1 of only 2 that they have) was a lovely retreat.
A bit of luxury (lovely bed linen, awesome breakfast, v clean all around) with a taste of adventure (no blinds for front windows, sounds of the rainforest all night).
The fruit aspect was fun too, we had some awesome fruit that myself (European) and my partner (South American) had never had before.
A great balance for us, but don;t expect this to be a 6* retreat, just a a great 4/5* one with personality, especially from the the great hosts.
