“A unique experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2011

We booked cabin 1092 principally because of the outside bathroom; we loved using a similar outside bathroom when we were in the Maldives. I happened to wake up at about 5 a.m. and when I went outside the dawn chorus was absolutely amazing.

When we arrived in the morning to drop off our suitcases we were greeted by a young Irish girl who had been helping Rob out for a few weeks. She told us that she had not yet seen a Cassowary but when we returned later on in the day Rob told us she had seen a Cassowary whilst we were away. We felt disappointed at having missed seeing it but the next morning, as we were having breakfast in Rob's dining area, the Cassowary reappeared with two chicks. After breakfast the girl took us on a walk through the forest past Rob's sculptures. We had almost walked past it before we realized that the Cassowary and its chicks were sitting quietly next to the path watching us. It gave us a bit of a shock as they can be quite dangerous.

Thank you Rob for a very pleasant stay.

“not for everyone, but perfect for us!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2011

the rainforest hideway is not a place for everyone, but it was perfect for us. imagine a somewhat rustic, yet clean and comfortable private cabin carved out of the rainforest and you may get an idea what it is like. despite the fact that you are in a jungle with ornamental pools and gardens all over the property, there were no bugs, making outdoor living comfortable and easy. we stayed in the separate cabin, which came with one of the nicest outdoor bathroom/shower setups i have ever used. if you want a quiet, peaceful, beautiful rainforest experience this place is not to be missed. if you want modern luxury stick with cairns or port douglas, there are more than enough of those heartless places to satisfy your needs. we loved what the owner has done with the place and would stay there again. well done!!!

Room Tip: the choice of rooms is slim, do yourself a favor and stay in the detached cabin. it is wonderful fo...

“A great rustic experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

The Rainforest Hideaway is an an incredible experience, I felt totally at one with nature. The accommodation is very clean and comfortable. Rob, the owner, is helpful, friendly and knowledgeable about the flora and fauna, plus the wildlife. I am so glad I stayed there and will definitely be back.

“Fantastic, magical, beautiful, friendly, clean”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

My boyfriend and I had a long stay at the Rainforest Hideaway and experienced nothing but excellence and satisfaction from our stay. The rooms are unique and have great character and provide a nice taste of a holiday in the rainforest. The rooms are spotless and the breakfast includes a nice spread of food, including exotic fruit from the area. The host, Rob, has turned the B&B into a beautiful and creative getaway the whole family can enjoy. I would recommend this place to anybody who embraces the beauty and biodiversity of the rainforest, as there is much to be explored and enjoyed during your stay. Five Stars!!!!!

“Will NEVER be back !”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2011

Love Cape Tribulation the area itself just the accomodation the worst. We didn't ending up staying at the "resort" as when we arrived it was quite different to what was on the web site - very run down and in a word, weird. Was rather uncomfortable feeling. Found lovely accomodation just down the road cheaper and friendlier and cleaner.

Room Tip: if you can take the room near office as the other has shower and toilet facing the bush.. NO DOORS !

If this review had some fair criticism I would not have bothered responding but after check-n this family found friends staying elsewhere in town, and due to a communication error these people had already arranged accommodation for them too. When they decided it would be more fun to stay all together they wanted a full refund from me and when I gave them only a partial refund the writer of this review became agitated and decided to pick on non existing faults in an attempt to obtain a refund.
An amazing review, considering that on a daily basis people that stay elsewhere in town come in just for a look and to take photos and tell me how beautiful the place is with its bright colors, fishponds, sculptures, artwork and rainforest trails.
The outdoor bathroom mentioned in this review is not a substandard building with missing doors but an intentionally designed tropical experience with gardens and sculptures that is shown on the website and this cabin is everyone's favourite.
This review writer might call my place weird, others describe it as having character that is lacking in the big commercial resorts.
