Stayed a week at the Gums with my daughter ; probably best if you had a vehicle to get around, although we got there easily enough by taking a train from Airport to Eagle junction and then changing to train to Caboolture - from there a bus to Briebie : total cost for us both around $40 and took about an hour.
The Gums is on the quiet estuary side of bribie, just over the bridge. Large shopping mall with all thats needed about a 15 minute walk - while magnificent surf beach at Woorim, other side of the island, about a 15 minute drive.
We drove to Caloundra one day, about an hour - also to glass house mountains and the Steve Irwin Zoo, only 30 mins from the resort and well worth visiting. We stayed with a friend/resident in a two bedroom aprtment - very spacious, lovely surroundings, pool tennis court etc. Birds wake you up around 5;30 - but very pleasantly ! Rate it a great place to stop particularly with children provided you have a vehicle and also a good base to explore that region of queensland. Tony and Joy the managers most helpful and friendly, thanks to them and their family for making us so welcome.

Thanks so much for the lovely feedback. Our business is to make our guests feel welcome while enjoying the facilities and surrounds. Good point about the car. Lots of interstate or international visitors hire cars either at the airport or on the Island. There are also airport transport services to and from the island daily. (We can help with all that).
You are right, there is a lot to do and see at Bribie Island and surrounds. We hope you can come and stay again.
