“Warmth and hospitality in a beautiful environment”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 June 2011

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Zengarra, which topped off a lovely weekend in the area. The house is beautifully designed and the decor is comfortably luxurious with a touch of exotica, filled as it is with flourishes of Mike and Chris's many travels. Mike and Chris are wonderful hosts and it was a treat to hear of Mike's many experiences abroad and of course Chris's fabulous Marimba playing. The skill and feeling she shows for her music, Chris also matches in the kitchen - the food is worth the trip on its own.

Our one night at Zengarra left us wishing we had another, but that will have ot wait for another time, as we will surely return soon. We were fortunate to meet a lovely couple also staying there, which was a welcome bonus, as we stayed up very late talking with them and sharing a wine or three while listening to Mike and Chris' eclectic music collection. It was a great night.

I have stayed at many B&B's around Australia over the years, but I would rate Zengarra in my top two. Mike and Chris have a beautiful environment to share, which they do with genuine warmth and a focus on the little details that make a stay there very special. But they also understand that guests enjoy their privacy too and are sensitive to your individual needs - they really make you feel that it's all about you and your partner. It was a great stay, and helped us reaffirm our relationship.

We look forward to revisiting Zengarra soon.

“A sublime escape with such beautiful generous hosts”

We stayed at Zengarra as part of a birthday surprise for visiting family members. It was such a wonderful experience that we are already planning a return visit later this year.

There are so many things to praise about Zengarra. Christine was a wonderful congenial host who made sure that everything was to our liking - She was generous, kind and very personable... and her offering of music was a exquisite companion to a glass of wine and a beautiful sunset.

The dinner prepared for us (together with a beautiful birthday cake that we got to take home with us) was mouthwatering - we had to ask Chris how she had done some things so that we could attempt to replicate them at home. All the meals featured home made and local produce and you could really taste the distance. Being able to take a walk to the property's orchard (complete with our guides - the three labradors) was a great experience.

Generosity was really the keyword for our stay - all these unexpected added extras that form part of the Zengarra experience. Chris and Mike obviously understand how detail makes an experience and we can only praise them and their property.

Thank you again - looking forward to our return visit.

“wedding of the year!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2011

On 31 October 2010, my partner and I decided to tie the knot!! But it was a mega celebration as my cousin from England and her partner joined us and made it a Double Wedding. Chairs with coloured sashes, glorious weather, and a majestic gumtree to exchange our vows under. The setting was idyllic and Mike and Chris worked their magic to make it a Wedding to remember for not only us but our guests. 30 guests were treated to a High Afternoon Tea . The piece de resistance was the wedding cake which consisted of eight patty cakes displaying a small bride and groom surrounded by 30 patty cakes each individually decorated, . All food for the wedding was prepared and baked by Chris. I can't say enough about the attention to detail which made everything flow so easily. We didn't have to worry about a thing. The wedding party stayed the night and partook of a luscious 3 course meal with exceptional wines, which rounded the day off beautifully. The next morning after a huge breakfast we started our Honeymoon with promises to return to celebrate our Double anniversary.!

“Hinterland Paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2010

We spent two spectacular nights at Zengarra. It is a very special place that could almost be described as fantasy.

We just happened to arrive at time of record rainfall which meant the surrounding area was incredibly lush and Lake Muoogerah was brimming with water, so much so its flood gates were open at full tilt.

Without giving too much away Christine and Mike's hospitality is second to none. It is rare today to find such 'old school' hospitality that touches every aspect of your stay. Most memorable is their kind nature, ridiculously good cooking and the private concert during dinner.

Zengarra is the place to visit when you really want (or need) to get away, forget about life momentarily and indulge in the natural wonders of South East Queensland's scenic rim!

“A beautiful experience.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2010

While the scenery in the area is stunning, it is a surprise to find Zengarra tucked away in the hills.

Our room was very well appointed, quiet comfortable and private, but not cut off.

Our meals were excellent. Cooked fresh using local ingredients.

Mike and Chris are helpful and considerate hosts, we felt at home immediately.
