We read a few not so great reviews before we booked and were quite sceptical of what we would find on arrival, but our mid week stay turned out better than we had hoped for! We will absolutely be back!!!!!
We arrived at Peppers as the last day of a 2 week belated honeymoon and on the eve of our 3rd wedding anniversary. We booked at the last minute and stayed in a luxurious spa villa. It really is a home away from home with everything that a couple or a family would need for a short or long escape with expansive floor space over two levels that really gave us the privacy of a self-contained option with almost all the conveniences of a hotel.
We dined both days for lunch in the Conservatory. The food was fabulous and my husband was not disappointed by the desserts!
They arranged a special reservation for dinner for us at the local Lakehouse restaurant - a competitor to their very own Wild Birch restaurant and arranged a return taxi so that we could enjoy their selection of fine wine. We even received a table by the window on arrival where in the afternoon the local Kookaburra's fly in to be fed - my husband being french absolutely loved it!
The place was absolutely spotless and clean. All new appliances and cooking utensils, a fully stocked mini bar and champagne and wine in the fridge on arrival.
The reception spent the time to share their local knowledge of hikes and walking tracks to visit the local springs and even shared her favourite list of local restaurants. Unfortunately being a Wednesday many of these were not open.
The only downside is there was no room service for breakfast in bed and we had to get up and dine again in the Conservatory. However, the cuisine on offer both hot and continental dishes was worth the short walk from our villa.
On our last day, we also booked in for their spa services. We selected the Total Float & Relax package which included 60 mins Kodo massage delivered by a pair of very strong hands, 60 mins Body Signature Mineral Cocoon (on soft pack bed) (absolutely recommend!!!!), 60 mins pass to The Retreat where my husband and I had it entirely to ourselves. We relaxed in their
mineral water therapy zone where you have tucked away in a secluded, peaceful corner of the spa an indoor/outdoor Mineral Water therapy area with sundeck, guest lounge and open fireplace. Here we enjoyed two 37°-39° mineral water plunge spa pools to revive and relax our very stressed London bodies, and a cooler plunge pool that totally invigorates you. Apparently the transition from hot to cool stimulates the circulatory system, feeding nutrients to every organ and all the tissues of the body. Compared to the local Bath House, these covered spa pools and plunge pool are on the Retreat veranda, overlooking beautiful landscaped gardens so that you feel like you are outside but you have all the protection of being undercover. We were also able to look out and see wild cockatoos dining on the trees outside. A really Australian experience for my husband.
Then we had the saunas to experience...The lavender-infused basalt stone sauna is the only one in the Southern Hemisphere and as to be experienced to be believed. Here the hot rocks are plunged into the copper cauldron filled with essential oils. It takes a while to heat up, but the entire process is automated so that you don't have to keep tipping water on it yourself. Its a really relaxing and beautiful Japanese inspired sauna. From there we then stepped into the infrared detox box where gentle warmth apparently activates the body’s natural cleansing process. Personally I really enjoyed the wet steam room given our previous nights degustation menu at the Lakehouse with wine pairings and the need to detox. Finally we had a 45 min Mineral float facial on soft pack bed. This was much like the previous cocoon experience which my husband absolutely raved about. We left feeling so relaxed and revived - ready to face another cold bleak European winter!
Thanks to the Peppers team for this fabulous experience! The local manager who waved us goodbye with a cheery smile and cheeky comment as I reversed the vehicle from the driveway, to the fabulous waitress who gave us all her local recommendations that we followed to the T and to the great receptionist who met us on arrival. Finally an outstanding vote of thanks to the highly professional spa staff who could not have been more attentive during our therapies.
